10D9N Spring Japan Trip: Yoyogi Park, Tokyo
Yoyogi Park is one of Tokyo's largest city parks. It has a pond and forested areas. Yoyogi Park is also a famous spot during spring for hanami (re: picnic under the cherry blossom trees). Since it is located near to Meiji Shrine, we visited Yoyogi Park first thing in the morning before we continued our walk to Meiji Shrine. Entrance to Yoyogi Park is free.
Even though we came quite early in the morning, the park has been filled with the crowd. I guess it's not surprising as that week was the first week of cherry blossom period. A lot of people come early to the park for the morning walk or to chop a perfect spot for hanami later during the day.
Yoyogi Park's landscape is pretty beautiful. There is a pond in the middle of the park where visitors can take a leisure stroll on both sides of the pond.
We has reached toward the main area of the cherry blossom trees. There are fewer cherry blossom trees here compared to the other park in Tokyo like Shinjuku Gyoen. But if you would like to take your booze with you during hanami, you can' do that at Shinjuku Gyoen. Guess, Yoyogi or Ueno Park will be better place for you, booze-drinkers.
I guess Japanese starts drinking pretty early. I could literally smell booze's aroma that day when I was walking around Yoyogi Park.
Booze or no booze, cherry blossom trees are really pretty to look at.
Another shot of the cherry blossom trees. Oh right, I did not see the pink sakuras here at Yoyogi Park. Either I came too early (and the pink sakuras have not started blooming yet) or there are really none. No worries, you can find them at Ueno Park, Nakameguro or Shinjuku Gyoen.
