This is the first time they havebeen heard since the 60s. The groups on this album, in contrast to most of those on the previous At The Jazz Band Ball releases, were not playingmusic that could be readily classified as ‘trad’. In fact, they all took a path that hardly led to commercial successalthough it allowed them to achieve artistic satisfaction.
