ANNIE LENNOX has intimated that her songwriting days are behind her just months after being honoured with an award for her contribution to music.

Lennox, who was born in Aberdeen, became the first woman to be awarded the fellowship of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (Basca) in May.

The former Eurythmics singer, with co-writer Dave Stewart, penned some of the most memorable songs of the 1980s, including Sweet Dreams, Love is a Stranger, Who’s That Girl, Here Comes The Rain Again, and Sisters are Doin’ It For Themselves.

However, she has not made an album of original material since 2007’s Songs Of Mass Destruction, instead releasing an album of Christmas songs in 2010 and last year’s Nostalgia, a collection of cover versions.
