TVB general manager Eric Tsang underwent surgery last Friday (Aug 18) to remove an aneurysm and install a supporting stent.

Tsang’s daughter, Taiwanese host Bowie, shared in a statement that the operation in Taipei went smoothly and that her 70-year-old father was recuperating well.

When asked by the media if Tsang’s declining health has been a cause of concern as of late, Bowie, 50, reportedly choked up and refused to disclose further information due to “inconvenience”.

According to reports, Tsang’s declining health caused much concern for Bowie – who was unable to visit the Hong Kong actor for nearly two years due to the pandemic.

Bowie revealed in an interview with Taiwanese media last year that Tsang suffers from gout and that she witnessed how much pain her father was in when they were filming The Amazing Race China in 2015.

She added that it left Tsang's left foot swollen and he was wheelchair-bound for most of the shoot.

She added that her father has since restrained himself from drinking alcohol.

Meanwhile, several media outlets that managed to get in contact with Tsang post-surgery reported that the latter appeared vibrant and spoke clearly and loudly.

TVB’s communications department also issued a statement, in which the Infernal Affairs star said that he would get annual health check-ups in Taiwan.

When the results showed he had abnormal swelling in his artery, Tsang followed the doctor’s suggestion to have a stent inserted.

“Everything went smoothly. I would like to thank everyone for their concern. I will return to work very soon, so please rest assured. Thank you again,” he said.

Tsang, known for hosting the popular Hong Kong variety show Super Trio Series, has been married twice.

His first marriage was to Taiwanese actress Wang Mei Hua in 1972 and they had two daughters, Bowie and Wing Yee. However, the relationship didn't work out and they divorced in 1975.

In 1989, Tsang tied the knot to a woman named Rebecca Chu and they had two sons together – Derek and Mark. Chu passed away of cancer on Aug 3, 2020.
