Hong Kong star Eric Tsang recently appeared on a variety show where he recalled the time he almost cut ties with a long-time confidant.

The 69-year-old described his friend as a “good brother” who's also a huge celebrity in the entertainment scene. They share many mutual friends.

While he didn't name the celebrity, netizens guessed Tsang must have been referring to Hong Kong singer Alan Tam as the actor shared the same story with Taiwan media in 2016.

According to Tsang, the two initially promised to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony together. However, Tam turned his back on him at the last minute after finding out the event would take place at a sauna.

“He told me he refused to be seen at a sauna shop as it will affect his image,” Tsang explained, adding that this infuriated him as his friend “wasn’t loyal enough”.

The incident led to both parties giving each other the cold shoulder for days, and the friendship soon turned sour.

One day, Tsang decided that he didn’t want to lose his “brother” over something so trivial and took the initiative to patch things up.

“I decided to be the bigger person, to be the ‘adult’ in the friendship and stop focusing on the mistakes,” Tsang, who's also the general manager of TVB, said.

The Infernal Affairs star then invited Tam out for tea. As soon as the two met, they both reconciled and returned to their normal routine of talking and laughing with one another.

Tsang then went on to share some advice about friendship.

“Sometimes, we can’t just judge a situation from our own standpoint. Some friendships are just too precious, and they should be cherished,” he said.
