Slovenia star Rene Krhin insists side are out to end Scotland’s World Cup dream at Hampden

Granada star Rene Krhin insists Slovenia have their sights set on ending Gordon Strachan’s Russian dream.

He said: “Based on what we have shown in recent matches, we’re going there to win. We are feeling positive from the previous games. There is a new chemistry among the players.

“We are moving forward positively and with confidence, and we are prepared for a tough match. The Scots have good quality, but we know that we do too.

“We will definitely go to the match with victory in mind.

“The Scots play a typical British game but we will prepare for tough duels. We go into every game with fighting spirit.”

Slovenia coach Katanec has a doubt over Fiorentina star Josip Ilicic who reported for duty with an injury.

The midfielder was carried off against Crotone on Sunday and will have a scan on his ankle.

But Copenhagen star Ben Verbic is set to feature and admits he’ll be gutted if they take nothing from Hampden.

He said: “We are aiming for three points, with the primary objective not to lose the game.

“It will be hard in Scotland. The fans will give them positive energy from the stands. But we will endeavour to get a result. We have worked well and will be prepared tactically for the game.”
