More than a month after Kris Aquino's previous Instagram post regarding her health and situation as she pursues her treatment, fans of the diva have received another update from the actress.

To receive therapy for the actress' medical issues, Aquino and her two boys, Josh and Bimby, have been in the US for several months. She said that she will soon begin her immunotherapy treatment, which employs chemotherapy-like drugs but at far lower doses. She's expected to complete the treatment in around ten months.

Health Update of Kris Aquino

In 2018, Kris Aquino revealed that she was diagnosed with chronic spontaneous urticaria, an autoimmune condition that affects 20% of people and can continue for minutes, months, or even years.

Due to her history of severe allergic responses, Aquino needs to take a high dosage of antihistamines. According to reports, she has five medical conditions: hypertension, fibromyalgia, chronic spontaneous urticaria, severe migraines, and an excess of thyroid antibodies.

She also said that her systemic lupus erythematosus, crest syndrome, and vasculitis are being closely monitored. Since receiving her diagnosis, Aquino has been putting her health first and taking a break from her hectic entertainment schedule.

In her recent Instagram post she said:

"For all of you, thank you for continuing to pray for me- I failed to ask his permission if I could name him, but my new doctor is considered among the BEST. I waited 3 & a half months to have a face to face consultation- and i know i made the right choice because after months of uncertainty, he gave someone like me, suffering from multiple autoimmune conditions the most important element needed: the renewed confidence to HOPE that although it will be a long process, i do have a strong chance of getting better."

She appeared healthy and better in her photos, and fans are relieved after seeing that, as she's doing well now.

What Is an Autoimmune Disease?

The immune system typically protects against viruses and germs. When it detects outside invaders, it unleashes a massive army of fighter cells to engage them. Normally, the immune system can distinguish between its own cells and foreign ones.

When you have an autoimmune disease, though, the immune system misidentifies a portion of the body, such as the skin or joints, as alien. Autoantibodies, a class of proteins, are released and assault healthy cells.

What Causes Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmune disorders are not recognized to have a specific etiology. There are risk factors, though, that can raise likelihood of developing an autoimmune disease. Risk elements consist of:

  • Some medicines
  • Family history of autoimmune disorders.
  • Smoking.
  • Having one autoimmune illness.

Kris Aquino Autoimmune Diseases Explained

In an Instagram video, Kris Aquino posted:

"Kayo na lang please ang mag research - 3 ang confirmed autoimmune conditions ko: chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroiditis, and definitively confirmed after my 3rd skin biopsy was read by a pathologist here & in the - meron po akong vasculitis, to be very specific - late stage 3 of Churg Strauss Syndrome now also known as EGPA."

Let’s have a look at the diseases she suffers from:

1) Extreme Vasculitis or EGPA

Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, sometimes known as EGPA, is a very uncommon type of vasculitis. This is also known as Churg-Strauss syndrome.

Blood vessels can become inflamed as a result of vasculitis. Blood vessel walls may thicken as a result of inflammation, reducing the diameter of the vessel's entrance. Organ and tissue damage may result from reduced blood flow.

2) Autoimmune thyroid disease

The thyroid is inflammed as a result of thyroiditis. Sometimes it occurs as a result of the body producing antibodies that unintentionally attack the thyroid. The terms "Hashimoto's Disease" or "Hashimoto's Thyroiditis" are all terms used to describe this condition.

3) Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria

Urticaria, or itchy red or skin-colored welts, are frequently adverse reactions to food or medication.

However, a small percentage of people experience recurrent hives for no apparent reason. Chronic spontaneous urticaria is characterized by new breakouts occurring virtually daily for six weeks or longer.

4) Crest Syndrome

Crest syndrome is a specific type of systemic sclerosis and a connective tissue disorder. Calcinosis, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysfunction, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia are collectively referred to as CREST.

As CREST syndrome affects various bodily systems, it can result in a wide range of symptoms. The skin and internal organs frequently get thicker and/or harder as a result. Restricted cutaneous systemic sclerosis or limited scleroderma are other names for Crest syndrome.

Two of the six autoimmune diseases Kris Aquino has been diagnosed with are life-threatening, and one is very likely because of her 'particular bodily symptoms'.

Kris Aquino, though, remains upbeat about being able to spend as much time with her sons as she used to before her autoimmune problems exacerbated, despite her health challenges.
