Michelle Branch is a singer from Arizona whose biggest claim to fame has been winning a Grammy Award, alongside Santana, in 2003 for the song “The Game of Love” (2002). She also personally put out four studio albums between 2000 and 2017. “All You Wanted” is from the second of those efforts, 2001’s “The Spirit Room”, which Maverick Records released on 14 August 2001.

This song marks the highest Michelle has ever reached on the Hot 100 as lead artist, where the track peaked at number 6. It performed even better on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40. Here, this song actually hit the second position.

This song is reportedly Branch’s favorite amongst the entirety of “The Spirit Room”. It has also been noted that when this project came out, she was a only 18 years old. Moreover, Michelle Branch and this track in particular influenced Taylor Swift during her formative years. Swift even covered it during her Speak Now World Tour in 2011.

Michelle released the album, “The Spirit Room” on the 14th of August, 2001. According to her, she derived inspiration for the album’s title from a bar located close to Sedona, her home town in Yavapai County, Arizona.

It went on to receive a 2x platinum from the RIAA in the US. It achieve silver certification in the UK, platinum in Japan, and Gold in Canada as well as Australia.
