1. Lyrics Breakdown
0:15 – Before the lyrics start, the narrative begins with a dark room, slowly
zooming into a figure on the floor cowering.
It's the same each and every night.
Glare at my screen with two big bloodshot eyes.
0:15-0:25 – At this point we cut to a close up of the singer as he begins to sing
and zoom out to the rest of the band performing in this dark setting. This
sequence includes two or three different shots, being close ups and medium close
ups of the band members, one of which the singer will have bloody tears rolling
down his face.
I'm stuck self-torturing; my meds are failing me.

0:25-0:38 – Sequence begins with a cut to the figure in the narrative holding his
head and shaking heavily as he tries to pick himself up using some fast cuts and
transitions between his face and the band until he has a distressing look on his
face and falls in slow motion.
My eyes are stapled open wide,
As I lay down on my side.
I am bouncing off these walls.
0:38-0:49 - A slow tracking shot going across the band members playing and
fades back and forth from the character falling and the band playing but
ultimately ends with the singer finishing the last line.
0:49-1:03 – This sequence is mostly instrumental and picks the pace of the song
up so we will have multiple fast cuts of different band members, particularly the
singer laughing demonically, switching with the story and the character standing
up and will end with a clock in sync with the clock sound we hear to make use of
thought beats.
Notice my hands begin to twitch.
Unprovoked assaulting of my conscious wit.
1:03-1:14 – This has the character be hazy and the screen will be fuzzy to
represent this using blurs as his hands shake
Me and the TV are enemies.
Sickening static surrounds my mind.
1:14-1:20 – The character notices a TV light and angrily goes towards it as the
band appear on the screen.
I'm losing time, and realizing that
After days of thought that I'm
1:20-1:26 – At this point the camera will zoom into the TV and the band will be
this shot singing with the singer exaggerating losing time by tapping a watch.
Stuck self-torturing; my meds are failing me.

1:26-1:37 – Character is sat against a wall with his head down as it zooms into
his face which has a scared expression possibly crying.
2. My eyes are stapled open wide,
As I lay down on my side.
I am bouncing off these walls.
1:37-1:48 - Cuts to the band singer, singing the first line exaggerating his eyes
being open as it cuts back and forth from the character lying on the floor next to
some medical pills with a bouncing effect around the screen, this part of the
verse being much amplified.
As I focus on the clock,
Time stands still, but I cannot.
I should strap myself in bed.
I guess I'll sleep when I am dead.
1:48-2:00 – The character is shown on the floor with a close up on his face and
cuts to a broken clock in front of him not moving then cutting to the band for the
3rd line of this part as they perform.
Talk to myself, lie in the darkness so content.
As the sun begins to rise, I can barely shut my eyes.
2:00-2:10 - For this part, the camera spins around the character as he sits up
against the wall and is shaking, holding onto his legs and looking around the
room until he spots something ahead of him in the darkness.
This crazed, delirious mess; laughing at everything I see.
My sanity is spent. Just tell me where my time went.
I'm losing it.
2:10-2:23 – At this point a monster appears through syncing some cuts and
possibly flashes and starts laughing at the character and grabs the characters
head and throws his head against the wall.
Attention: All insomniacs, please raise your right hand.
And kindly, repeat after me.
"I guess I'll sleep when I am dead!"
2:23-2:44 – This part is entirely performance based as the lyrics aren’t relevant
to the narrative so for these shots the scene will pick up and the band will begin
to head bang and perform in sync to the lyrics and instrumentals and will also
have scenery shots of the room and visions.

2:44-2:56 - This is a slow motion falling scene of the character as he falls forward
after trying to get up with multiple shots around his body as the monster fades
away.
My eyes are stapled open wide,
As I lay down on my side.
I am bouncing off these walls.
2:56-3:07 – Cuts to the singer singing and has multiple shots of the band and
some of the backing singers. Occasionally going back to the body and then the
clocks start smashing up around his body.
As I focus on the clock,
Time stands still, but I cannot.
I should strap myself in bed.
I guess I'll sleep when I am dead.
3. 3:07-3:28 – Clocks continue being smashed as the bands performance is the
largest and most dynamic in this shot and this scene is mostly performance based
I guess I’ll sleep when I am.
3:28 (End) fast cuts going up his body to his face which is just still and not
moving. (dead)
