Federalists Essay
The early years of the Constitution of the United States were full of political strife. The two prominent
political ideals were complete opposites. The Jeffersonian Republicans were focused on giving power
to the people and maintaining a pastoral economy, while the Federalists supported the control of the
government by the elite class, and maintaining positive democracy. Both parties feared the influence
and effect the other party would have on the public. In Linda K. Kerber s article, The Fears of the
Federalists , the major concerns Federalists held in the early 19th century are described. Ever since the
war with and separation from England, the citizens of America were seen to be continually drive to
patriotic rebellion as a way to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the vast amount of land available for agriculture, industry was created regardless, in order to
become more independent from Europe. Machinery was developed that would eliminate the need for
actually laborers, but at the same time this machinery needed laborers to work it6. Thus the Proletariat
formed. This class was negatively viewed by the Federalists as they believed that any one who was
dependent upon others was not virtuous and thus not a proper citizen. The condition of the proletariat
class was also poor, and the Federalists believed that the poor were more prone to indecent behavior
and unpredictability7. Kerber quotes Federalist Philip Barton Key, who stated that men and boys in
workshops were not expected to have the same stable constitution as those who were in charge of their
own salaries and independent in their lives8. What is meant is that those who are rich and assured of
their social and economic standing are not going to rebel. They have influence in what matters to them
politically, unlike those who are poor, who would have more reason to start an uprising. Federalists
also feared that the Republicans would ...break down the barrier of habitual morality...both as it
respects our civil religious institutions... 9. Of course, this referred to the cultivation of the public
desire rather than the elite rich and educated. As

Discussion Forum Questions
This class so far to me has been a learning experience. Theory wasn t always a strong point for me, but
as the semester moves forward, I see myself getting better at grasping the concepts. The Discussion
Forum Questions are useful in the fact that it furthers my knowledge in theory and what we are
learning that week. I get to see how other people are thinking about theory. It gives me the opportunity
to compare and contrast my thinking to their thinking. All of my postings have been up by Tuesday
because I want to give my classmates appropriate time to make comments. I try to put thorough
thought into my discussion posts, and use references to back my posts up. I also try to respond to my
peer s postings in a timely manner. I feel overall when providing responses to the assigned Discussion

at work with my patients. For example, I think about the theorists and their theories we just learned
about and relate that theory to my patients. I try to critically think about the best EBP, and apply to my
posts since we use EBP every day in nursing. I try my best to critically think, give appropriate
examples in my posts, and have the research to back my posts up. I am still learning about theory, and

Ase Code Of Ethics Essay
Based on the article from the Sacramento Bee on the Bay Bridge there were ethical violations violated
by both the panelists and Caltrans that violated the American Society of Civil Engineers Cannons one ,
four, and six. The first cannon of the ASCE code of ethics is that Engineers shall hold paramount the
safety, health and welfare of the public and shall strive to comply with the principles of sustainable
development in the performance of their profession duties (asce.org). From the Sacramento Bee article
a panelist by the name of Nicoletti, said in an email that he was unaware of the Caltrans analysis on
the bridge, even though the panelist s findings relied on the analysis conclusion. This violates the first
cannon of the ASCE code ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A specific example where this code was violated in the Sacramento Bee article was that Caltrans didn
t reveal serious bridge testing problems including fraud to the public, elected officials, and the peer
review panel itself. This is undoubtedly a violation of the sixth code of ethics. Not only does violate
the code of ethics but it puts into question whether or not Caltrans engineers should retain their license
when they failed to provide crucial information to the public and review panels. It is the job of an
engineer to make sure that if there are critical problems to tests or projects that it is reported to the
public, officials, and other engineers such as panelists. Engineers should have the dignity to admit to
problems found from tests and project sites to other engineers involved in the project so that the
problem can be fixed. It is better to have a problem revealed while a project is in progress compared to
revealing the problem when the project is over. Revealing problems early in the project may cost more
money in the long run but it will ensure the safety of the public which is the job of an engineer, instead
of finding out that the project had a critical failure that caused lives to be lost in the

Essay On Micromechanical Resonators
8 We systematically demonstrate that one dimensional phononic crystal (1 D PnC) tethers can signif
9 icantly reduce tether loss in micromechanical resonators to a point where the total energy loss is
10 dominated by intrinsic mechanisms, particularly phonon damping. Multiple silicon resonators are
11 designed, fabricated, and tested to provide comparisons in terms of the number of periods in the
12 PnC and the resonance frequency, as well as a comparison with conventional straight beam tethers.
13 The product of resonance frequency and measured quality factor (f_Q) is the critical figure of
14 merit, as it is inversely related to the total energy dissipation in a resonator. For a wide range of fre

E Commerce Is The Conduction Of Business And Commercial...
TRACKING TECHNOLOGY; THE DEVELOPMENT AND PERSPECTIVES OF E COMMERCE
Tracking technology Name: Class: Date Institution: INTRODUCTION E commerce is the conduction
of business and commercial affairs through electronic means. Electronic means ensure that companies
are competitive and efficient in terms of production. The high level of e commerce in the current
business environment has not come instantaneously, but, there has been continual evolution. The
centre of this evolution is technological advancement and globalization, two factors that have reduced
the world to be in the form of a business village due to the ease in which operations are done. A sense
of enhanced competition exists between various companies as they struggle to cope up with the high
demands of the technology era[ ]. This essay outlines the development and the perspectives of e
commerce.
Being a large topic, the evolution of e commerce is discussed as a component of the disadvantages of
e commerce. The use of the e commerce and e commerce selling invention hit the internet marketing
with a thud on its invention in the late 1990s with its revolution of transforming the computer and
internet industries. The use of the e commerce came with several advantages that saw connections
both in the internet and intranet easier and transfer of files become much easier between and among
foreign businesses too but also came with disadvantage as it placed most businesses under

Salt Water Lab Report
We did Lab 2 part 1, first we found the weight of the graduated cylinder and 10 ml of water. Then we
found the weight of the graduated cylinder. After that we found the we found the weight of the 10 ml
of water by subtracting the weight of the water and the cylinder by the weight of only the cylinder. We
found the volume of the water by seeing how much the water rises but it did not rise from 10 ml mark
because no object or weight was in the water. The density of the water is mass divided by volume. Our
volume was 1 ml and our, mass was 9.8g, and after dividing those two numbers we got a density of
.98g/ml. But the density of pure water is 1.0, and the density we got for the density of tap water which
is not pure water, is supposed to weigh more than the pure water. In Lab 2 part 3 the wt of the 10 ml of
salt water and G.C together was 37g about 1g difference from the weight of 10 ml of H2O and the
G.C. The weight of the G.C alone is 27g. The weight of the salt water alone is 10g, the volume of it
was 10ml. The density of the salt water was 1g/ml. The discrepancy in this data about part 1 and part 3
of lab 2.The data of the 2 parts only have a difference of 1g or lower.

The Baroque Era
The eighteenth century was a very creative time in world history. It gave birth to art that expresses
feelings. This art was in the form of music paintings and is even seen in Architecture. The name
baroque was borrowed from art history and actually came from a jeweler term meaning odd pearl or
irregular pearl. Europe rulers sponsored the arts until France rose to new heights in the seventeenth
century (Joseph Kerman) this is in contrast to merchant princes of the renaissance who were the first
supporters. Style characteristics of the Baroque era are distinctive Rhythms usually against a steady
beat. Dynamics usually remained at the same level through the whole piece though there were
expressive changes to bring out rhythmic accents. The Tone and color of the Baroque era derive from
instruments such as the flute, harpsichord, organ, violin and the obo. Keyboards instrument were
added as continuo. The common group of instruments would be the strings however woodwind and

would strive to accomplish which is improvising extras. Volume was a good tool to do this.
The Texture of the music of this period was polyphonic Three were traits of independent melody from
the basses. The pieces were filled with contrapuntal lines that seemed to almost compete for the

The Great Mosque Of Cordoba Vs. Hagia Sophia
The Great Mosque of Cordoba vs. Hagia Sophia Religion has played a huge role in the history of the
world of architecture. We can get a deeper look in the minds and attitudes of people when we look at
their beliefs specifically their religion. But even though religion played a huge role in the approach to
architecture, the pursuit of beauty and power can also explain to us the approaches and the outlooks of
those who built or designed buildings from the ancient world. Two buildings, the Hagia Sophia and
the Great Mosque of Cordoba, can show us two separate peoples and their approach to constructing
architecture that was devoted to their religions. However, while religion played a huge role, there are
similarities as well between the two that show that the rulers who commissioned these buildings were
interested in mimicking beauty and showing the world that their building was the most beautiful and
perhaps the most elite of its time as well as proving their divinity as a ruler of a great nation. The
Hagia Sophia was built in Constantinople in A.D. 532 by the emperor Justinian, who hired the
renowned architects Anthemius and Isidorus to build it. It was built over an existing building built by
Constantine himself. The Hagia Sophia was a very significant building of its time and one that drew
attention and respect. At this time in history the Byzantines, specifically Justinian, wanted to make one
message clear, that message being that the emperor of the byzantines empire,

Naturalism In Henry David Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau lives by an ideology of minimalism and simplicity, conveniences of his era are
gratuitous for a life of prosperity. He entered the woods to explore life living deliberately and to tread
a road of existential self actualization. Thoreau is a transcendentalist so it is only expected that he does
not align with centralized authority through religion and government which leads to the the overall
theme of naturalism and self reliancy. Essentially the theme thoreau advocates is that a simplistic
lifestyle allows one to live freely and wholly without the binds of tyranny and modern conveniences.
Within Henry David Thoreau s passage, probably the most conspicuous example of Thoreau s theme
of minimalism and transcendentalism is when he states, Our life is frittered away by detail. An honest
man has hardly need to count more than his ten fingers, or in extreme cases he may add his ten toes,
and lump the rest. Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! (Thoreau 6) Essentially Thoreau advocates an
honest man has no need for even the slightest of complexity in life and that a suspended state of
ignorance from what is deemed as extraneous details is bliss. In this quote the word honest is a strong
piece of rhetoric that exclaims that honesty and morality is primarily attained through simplicity and
not through gluttony in curiosity. This connects back to my theme that thoreau advocates that a man
can live virtuously only with simplicity, hence, Shams and delusions are esteemed for soundest truths,
while reality is fabulous. If men would steadily observe realities only, and not allow themselves to be
deluded, life, therefore of delusions created by this superfluous reality is responsible for the many of
the problems we have in modern society.
Thoreau once again exclaims that complexities in life are extraneous when he states, Still we live
meanly, like ants; though the fable tells us that we were long ago changed into men; like pygmies we
fight with cranes; it is error upon error, and clout upon clout, and our best virtue has for its occasion a
superfluous and evitable wretchedness. (Thoreau 6) like ants; though the fable tells us, our lives are
comparable to the regimented lifestyle of ants

Enduring Love Chapter 9
Chapter Nine is a turning point in the plot of Ian McEwan s Enduring Love. In the former chapters,
Joe and Clarissa witness a ballooning accident in which a man dies. This event is an emotional shock
for both of them. On that day, they meet Jed Parry, a Christian fanatic. The same night, he phones Joe
saying I love you , but Joe, too scared of Parry and of worrying Clarissa hangs up and says that it is a
wrong number (p. 37). Few days after, Joe confesses about it to Clarissa, adding that Parry had been
following him at the library, but she reproaches him not telling her before and does not seem to

And this person is the « borderline case » (p.81, l.33) Clarissa letting go the word « symptom » (p.84,

It s Time to Privatize Colombian’s Prisons
The involvement of the private sector in the penal system, prima facie, could be seen as a rapid and
low cost, high benefit solution to the most serious penal system problems such as lack of prisons
spaces, poor condition within the prisons, and the state responsibilities of running prisons services
adequately, by the figure of prison privatization. (Cavadino, M. and Dignan, J. 2007)
The figure of contracting out has been well described by Cavadino and Dignan in their analysis of the
prison privatization. This model involves the private sector in the penal system, by giving to it certain
responsibilities, such as, auxiliary services, design and construction of prisons, basic custodial
functions, or a set of above, which is named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, a careful analysis of the fact that the private sector, management of prisons could be seen, just
as a business, where everything is looking for the most part a financial item, so that, may generated
danger of lack accountability and transparency in the delivery of punishment to the prisoner. Therefore
it is very important in this point, the labour of the state as a controller and overseer, supervising that
the contractor fulfils its obligations in an appropriate and transparent manner.
Second, analysis of competition between public and private sectors in terms of provision of services in
the search for low cost and high benefit as part of the delivery of the sentence, Logan, C. argues that
they face the same problems, and for that reason are in the ability to compete.
it is primarily because they are prisons, not because they are contractual, that private prison face
challenges of authority, legitimacy, procedural justice, accountability, liability, cost, security, safety,
corruptibility, and so on. Because they face no problems that are both unique and insurmountable,
private prisons should be allowed to compete (and cooperate) with government agencies so that we
can discover how best to run prisons that are safe, secure, humane, efficient and just . (Logan, C.
1990)
Under this approach, the competition between the two sectors can be legitimized, and beneficiaries to

The Role Of The Dublin Lockout Of 1913
James Larkin, the leader of the Irish Trade Union and the founder of the Irish Transport and General
Workers Union once said The employers cannot carry on industry nor accumulate profits if they have
not got the good will of the workers or their acquiescence in carrying on such industry. In 1911, over
300,000 people lived in Dublin. The unemployment rates were high and the average labourers wage
was around one pound a week, and that was only if they had a full week of work. Living conditions
were equally as inadequate as the working wages. Lydia Carroll and Enda Leaney found in a housing
enquiry that 87,305 people lived in poverty, almost a third of Dublin s population. 80% of families
lived in one room dwellings. According to the Public Health Report of 1913, 8,639 deaths were
recorded, 1,444 were from tuberculosis and 4,642 were from nervous, circulatory, respiratory, and
digestive diseases such as diarrhoea and pneumonia due to inadequate sanitary and nutrition.(Devine,
pg 3 4) These conditions sparked many protests as workers became desperate. James Larkin became a
renowned figure of the movement toward a better Ireland for the labourers. This essay will discuss the

Descriptive Essay About A Tree
There s a flower garden in one corner, a garden with tomatoes and cucumbers in the other, and a tall
hedge that grows along the outer edge, where the edge of the yard buts up against the neighbor s.
There are two apple trees on either side that drop hundreds of red delicious every other year or so;
they make delicious apple sauce. One, large oak tree is the alpha of the yard; it lumbers over the house
and shades the entire lawn. This small, suburban yard not only housed my mother s imagination, but
mine and all my cousins as well. My grandparent s backyard might seem ordinary, but it is actually
quite special. The giant oak tree, the shed, the swing set, and my grandmother s garden are all special
locations in the yard that continue to be sacred places for me.
The outdoors has been one of my favorite places to be for as long as I can remember. As a child, I
spent most afternoons galloping across the yard and through the trees pretending I was various
animals or just being with the trees. I ve always felt extremely connected to all living things, so it s no
surprise that the massive oak tree in my grandparents backyard holds a special place in my heart. The
oak resides in the direct center of the yard and must be at least three feet in diameter. This tree holds
so much life, squirrels, birds and chipmunks constantly jump from branch to branch and beautiful
green leaves sprout across every square inch. I wanted to exist closer to this energy, I wanted to

who prided himself in his ability to break negroes through harsh lashings. Douglass recalls that hardly

his actions being violent, threatening, and rebellious, Douglass is never punished for it and in fact

First let s look at what Copyright laws protect and the penalties of infringing upon Copyrighted work.
Copyright is a form of protection granted by the government which protects original works of
authorship, such as books, song, movies, computer software, and more, from being stolen. However
facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, cannot be Copyrighted. Having a Copyright lets you
reproduce your work, make related works, make copies, and perform or display the work publicly. The
penalties of infringing upon a Copyrighted work are, the infringer may be taken to court, be forced to
pay the damages or lost profits the copyright infringing work cost the creator or the profits the
infringer made off of the stolen work. They could also be forced to pay all attorney fees and court

Employment At The United States
Employment at will
Employment at will is a common law that governs work relationships in most states in the U.S. The
rule states that if an employee is contracted by an employer for an indefinite period of time then the
contract can be terminated by either the employee or the employer at any time and for any given
reason unless there is another law in places that guide otherwise. This simply implies that if an
employee is hired under the at will law then the employer can fire the employee for any reason at any
time without prior warning or communication. An employee, on the other hand, may decide to leave
the job at any time without reason or prior warning. The At will employment became part of the
common laws for employment in the United States in the late 19th century. However, it has been
modified by many states in the recent past by adding a number of exceptions in order to protect
employees from unfair dismissal.
Exceptions to the Rule
The exceptions to the employment at will rule are meant to protect workers from wrongful termination
of their employment. This is provided to all employees covered by the federal law, state laws, CDAs,
public policy and employment contracts among other situations. The following are some of the major
exceptions to the employment at will doctrine.
Public Policy
The majority of the jurisdictions in the U.S recognize the existence of certain public policy guidelines
that limits the application of employment at will. Examples of such

I Was Auditioning For One
I was auditioning for one of Mr. Kentros choirs. I stood in the hallway nervously as always Rachel
was there practicing for her audition, which was after mine. I m ready for this. I can do it! Coby came
out of his audition with a giant smile on his face. He put his hand on my shoulder, have fun, and good
luck! I took a deep breath as I walked into the choir classroom. Mr. Kentros was sitting at the piano
with sight reading papers in front of him, there was a chair next and a music stand next to the piano
for whoever was auditioning. He had his water bottle in one hand and a pencil, which he was using to
scribble notes about Coby s audition on a piece of paper. I looked over and saw Kentros wife Anni
was sitting at his desk probably there watching the auditions. Ahh! I though. I didn t prepare for both
of them! I can t do it. Leave! Leave now. Just walk out. I felt myself starting to turn around. Stay. You
need to do this. I walked over to where the chair was by the piano. I tried not to think about and extra
person being in the room so I could start my audition. Are you ready? Kentros asked, I didn t answer. I
couldn t stop staring at Anni, she made me more nervous than I already was. She was intimidating. Do
you want Anni to leave? He asked. I felt myself nod. Anni quickly smiled at me and left the room. Did

Ammon Research Paper
Ammon was originally an Aethiopian or Libyan godliness, whose reverence eventually spread all over
Egypt, a section of the northern coast of Africa, and several parts of Greece. The original Egyptian
name was Amun or Ammun; the Greeks referred to him as Zeus Ammon, the Romans knew him as
Jupiter Ammon, and the Hebrews as Amon. In the countries where his reverence was first accepted, he
was worshiped in certain aspects as the supreme divinity , is clear from the fact, that the Greeks
recognized in him their own Zeus, even though the identity of these two deities in later times rests
upon philosophical speculations, created at a time when the original character of Ammon was nearly
lost sight of, and a more spiritual view of him substituted in its place.
In Burton MacDonald s book entitled, Ancient Ammon, he states that Ammon, or Amun was one of
the most powerful gods in ancient Egypt. At the height of Egyptian civilization he was called the King
God . He was originally an Ethiopian or Libyan godliness, whose reverence eventually spread all over
Egypt, a section of the northern coast of Africa, and several parts of Greece, the Greeks called him
Zeus Ammon. According to MacDonald, in the countries where his reverence was first established he

Tiger Woods And Its Effect On Golf
Golf. A sport that was dull and mundane twenty years ago, evolved when Tiger Woods came to the
scene. I started golfing during high school and loved it for the single fact, Tiger Woods played it.
Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring sport played by old white men lacking a fan base. Just
like myself, many people hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a change. Tour earnings
were low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up the sport. Tiger Woods came
on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The Tiger Effect on golf is real and
more people have been trying to work harder to get to that Tiger bench mark. He single handily
brought golf to the limelight and made it interesting to watch this godly like figure tear up the greens
while becoming an idol to young golfers around the world.

Effects Of Corruption On Women
Through the analysis of the different aspects of corruption at different levels of society, it can be
argued that the differential treatment of women and their lack of empowerment (2) is the cause of the
greater effect that corrupt systems have on women (1). 1. The impact of corruption on women: the
greater effect of corrupt systems on women Because corrupt systems cause women to suffer from
gender specific forms of corruption (a) and difficulties in accessing public services (b), women seem
to be disproportionately affected by corruption. a. The women specific practices of corruption While
research often focus on the different probability to pay bribes for men and women, a strong emphasis
should be placed on how men and women are differently impacted by corruption. As an abuse of
entrusted power in exchange for a private gain, corruption seems to accentuate those differences,
especially when it takes gender specific forms. Those are disproportionately experienced by women
when the currency for bribes is of a sexual nature. For instance, sexual extortion, or sextortion, is
defined as the situation where sexual favors are used as a currency for corrupt practices. This
manifestation of extortion can involve diverse types of sexual assault against women, from sexual
harassment to forced sex. When inflicted by public officials in exchange for the performance of a duty,
it seem to fall within the definition of abuse of power and influence of the UNCAC, yet sexual
extortion is

Should Pluto Be Considered A Planet Essay
Many may urge that Pluto should be considered a planet for it has similar characteristics as the planets
of the Solar System; however, others still believe that Pluto should not be considered a planet because
of its slight differences and conditions that are not matched.
Pluto is recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a dwarf planet for it doesn t
match the third condition of what defines a planet. IAU proposed three conditions to becoming a
planet. The first condition being: (a) is in orbit around the Sun; the second condition being: (b) has
sufficient mass for its self gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic
equilibrium (nearly round) shape; the third condition, in which Pluto has not met the standards to,
being:(c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit. Pluto doesn t meet the standards to the final
condition as Pluto follows the orbit path of some asteroid like objects in space and are surrounded
with these objects. If people were to ignore the third condition and recognise Pluto ... Show more

Reporters with interest in Pluto have published many articles related to the matter of whether Pluto
should be considered a planet. Many are opposing the opinion that Pluto should not be considered a
planet as the third condition is very vague. For instance, the Earth s neighbourhood could be
considered as not cleared out as the moon is following it around; Jupiter is continuously having
contact with asteroids named Trojans, and Neptune s orbit crosses over with Pluto s orbit. The
Guardian stated in one of it s articles that Pluto should not have a ban from being a planet due to its
small size. IAU, however, has not made any regards on this criticism. These opposing views about
Pluto may be correct in a way; however, factually speaking, Pluto is still not considered as a planet as
IAU has not made any changes towards its definition of the word,

Introducing New Coke Essay
In this case of Coca Cola changing their well established Coke formula and introducing an new one in
1985 for the purpose of gaining more market share; the reason why such decision was made by Coke s
executives was mainly because of a series of marketing campaign conducted by their major arrival

commercials to show that the majority preferred Pepsi than Coke based on its teste. By 1977, Pepsi

But the company considered, and rejected, planed to keep the old formula drink in circulation under
the name original Coke. The taste question was crucial to Coke. But what Coca Cola executives failed
to realize was that there is more to marketing soft drinks than winning taste tests. More than any other
product consumers had an emotional attachment to their soft drink brand. I believe from Americans
point of view, Coke discovered fiddling with the formula of the 99 year old beverage was probably an
assault to their patriotic pride. Here I can quote a saying from Coca Cola s President Donald R.
Keough to summarize what Coca Cola has learned: We did not understand the deep emotions of so
many of our customers for Coca Cola.
I think any marketer who plans a noticeable revision of a product must consider the loyalty of its
consumers and the possibility that the change will be rejected. To prevent this possibility, marketers
should realize that balking at change is a customer characteristic of specific product preferences. Also,
in this case, a more sophisticated qualitative and quantitative research could have been conducted and
prevented Coke from this mistake. Consumers resist changes for many reasons brand choice results
from a complex set of beliefs, buyers associate products with themselves, buyers do not fit into clear
segments. I think the key to all the marketers is to realize the involvement of what a product actually

International Law And National Law
W101: An Introduction to Law
Tutor Marked Assessment TMA01
Question 1 (300)
Explain the difference between:
a. international law and national law
Their principal differences are in their scope and their intended subjects. International law governs the
relationships that states have with each other and international institutions, whereas national law
applies within a nation. International law gains its force from agreements made between states and
customs and practices that have been followed by states over time, whereas national law is imposed by
state actors. (The Open University, 2014)
b. statute law and common law
Common law as a term can indicate a source of law also called case law, and the system of law which
includes it as a source. (Merriam Webster, Incorporated, 2014). In the sense of common law as a
source of law, it can be contrasted with statute law. Common law is a body of law based on court
judgements and precedent, whereas statute law originates in formal written acts by a legislature such
as Acts of Parliament (The Open University, 2014). In common law systems, judicial decisions
interpret previous analogous cases and relate them to the case at hand. Typically where there are
conflicts, statute takes precedence over common law as it is the creation of the democratic process
rather than judicial decisions and customs.
c. public law and private law
Public law governs the relationships between private individuals and institutions and the state,

Comparing Women In Beowulf And Sir Gawain
The women in Beowulf, The Wife of Bath, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight all hold very
important roles within these works. At first glance when reading these works the women do not appear
to be significant characters, or even worth stopping to give a second thought to. The medieval
landscape, as viewed through the eyes of scholars, was hardly populated by women. Particularly,
young unmarried women or maidens have been paid little attention . (Phillips) However these women,
and the roles they posses can tell us a great deal about how women were regarded by society during
these time periods.
Looking at these three tales, and comparing the roles the women take on within these works presents
us with a variety of contrasting roles. The women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the form of the work, the presentation of these women is purposefully symmetrical, inviting
comparisons and contrasts. Those women who act as hostesses and peaceweavers, even while looking
out for their own interests, are central to the poem, and an understanding of the functions of the
women in Beowulf assists the comprehension of a complex poem. Those women presented as
monsters, the hostile hostesses and strifeweavers, are interesting in themselves, and also serve as
counter examples to the other female characters. A thorough investigation of the relationships between
the women and their men uncovers possibilities of a matrilineal undercurrent in the culture of
Beowulf, which may indicate a dim memory of a pagan Germanic past for the Anglo Saxon poet.
Though they are all defined by the men that they are close to, either sons, fathers, or brothers, none of
the women in Beowulf are marginal or excluded. (Gillian

Child Soldiers
Introduction: Good morning ladies and gentleman, youth from around the world, prestigious guests
and esteemed politicians. I m Laban Pulea and I represent youth from the rural mining community of
Mount Isa in Western Queensland, Australia. Today I am here today to discuss the contentious issue of
child soldiers and inform you of the implications this issue has for our modern society. Despite
popular opinion, this issue is prevalent in our post modern world and is far too widespread to ignore.
The contentious theme of child soldiers is represented as atrocious and an infringement of human
rights in a diverse range of literary and non literary texts such as the movie Blood Diamond, the poem
Child Soldier Diary and the article Stolen kids ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example impairs allegations of paramilitary leaders manipulating children for their own
egotistical agendas. The abovementioned epitomizes notions of child soldiers which are utilized and
mirrored in many texts. The prose authenticates western beliefs and ideologies concerning the issue of
child soldiers. The relevance of these portrayals is crucial as the confrontational subject of child
soldiers indeed does represent forfeiture to their virtue and denigrates our humanity. This is among the
saddest sight these days seeing the image of hundreds of thousands of children kidnapped and lured
into being child soldiers. (Sir Roger Moore) Paragraph 3: When examining literary and non literary
texts, child soldiers are often branded in western texts as intolerant and an invasion of human rights.
These perceptions work to highlight and further problematize the prevailing ideologies regarding child
soldiers. The Article Stolen kids turned into terrifying killers, By Ann O Neill CNN, further
depersonalises these child soldiers by telling us that there very vulnerability makes them attractive to
the men leading militias, manipulating them to do the unspeakable without question or protest,
because their morals and value systems are not yet fully formed. This verifies western beliefs and
ideologies relating to guerrilla military leaders exploiting children and their rights to an innocent
childhood for

  • 2. Federalists Essay The early years of the Constitution of the United States were full of political strife. The two prominent political ideals were complete opposites. The Jeffersonian Republicans were focused on giving power to the people and maintaining a pastoral economy, while the Federalists supported the control of the government by the elite class, and maintaining positive democracy. Both parties feared the influence and effect the other party would have on the public. In Linda K. Kerber s article, The Fears of the Federalists , the major concerns Federalists held in the early 19th century are described. Machinery was developed that would eliminate the need for actually laborers, but at the same time this machinery needed laborers to work it6. Thus the Proletariat formed. This class was negatively viewed by the Federalists as they believed that any one who was dependent upon others was not virtuous and thus not a proper citizen. The condition of the proletariat class was also poor, and the Federalists believed that the poor were more prone to indecent behavior and unpredictability7. Kerber quotes Federalist Philip Barton Key, who stated that men and boys in workshops were not expected to have the same stable constitution as those who were in charge of their own salaries and independent in their lives8. What is meant is that those who are rich and assured of their social and economic standing are not going to rebel. They have influence in what matters to them politically, unlike those who are poor, who would have more reason to start an uprising. This is undoubtedly a violation of the sixth code of ethics. Not only does violate the code of ethics but it puts into question whether or not Caltrans engineers should retain their license when they failed to provide crucial information to the public and review panels. It is the job of an engineer to make sure that if there are critical problems to tests or projects that it is reported to the public, officials, and other engineers such as panelists. Engineers should have the dignity to admit to problems found from tests and project sites to other engineers involved in the project so that the problem can be fixed. It is better to have a problem revealed while a project is in progress compared to revealing the problem when the project is over. Multiple silicon resonators are 11 designed, fabricated, and tested to provide comparisons in terms of the number of periods in the 12 PnC and the resonance frequency, as well as a comparison with conventional straight beam tethers. 13 The product of resonance frequency and measured quality factor (f_Q) is the critical figure of 14 merit, as it is inversely related to the total energy dissipation in a resonator. Electronic means ensure that companies are competitive and efficient in terms of production. The high level of e commerce in the current business environment has not come instantaneously, but, there has been continual evolution. The centre of this evolution is technological advancement and globalization, two factors that have reduced the world to be in the form of a business village due to the ease in which operations are done. A sense of enhanced competition exists between various companies as they struggle to cope up with the high demands of the technology era[ ]. The density of the water is mass divided by volume. Our volume was 1 ml and our, mass was 9.8g, and after dividing those two numbers we got a density of .98g/ml. This art was in the form of music paintings and is even seen in Architecture. The name baroque was borrowed from art history and actually came from a jeweler term meaning odd pearl or irregular pearl. Europe rulers sponsored the arts until France rose to new heights in the seventeenth century (Joseph Kerman) this is in contrast to merchant princes of the renaissance who were the first supporters. • 11. The Great Mosque Of Cordoba Vs. Hagia Sophia The Great Mosque of Cordoba vs. Hagia Sophia Religion has played a huge role in the history of the world of architecture. We can get a deeper look in the minds and attitudes of people when we look at their beliefs specifically their religion. But even though religion played a huge role in the approach to architecture, the pursuit of beauty and power can also explain to us the approaches and the outlooks of those who built or designed buildings from the ancient world. Two buildings, the Hagia Sophia and the Great Mosque of Cordoba, can show us two separate peoples and their approach to constructing architecture that was devoted to their religions. However, while religion played a huge role, there are similarities as well between the two that show that the rulers who commissioned these buildings were interested in mimicking beauty and showing the world that their building was the most beautiful and perhaps the most elite of its time as well as proving their divinity as a ruler of a great nation. The Hagia Sophia was built in Constantinople in A.D. 532 by the emperor Justinian, who hired the renowned architects Anthemius and Isidorus to build it. It was built over an existing building built by Constantine himself. The Hagia Sophia was a very significant building of its time and one that drew attention and respect. • 12. Naturalism In Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau lives by an ideology of minimalism and simplicity, conveniences of his era are gratuitous for a life of prosperity. He entered the woods to explore life living deliberately and to tread a road of existential self actualization. Thoreau is a transcendentalist so it is only expected that he does not align with centralized authority through religion and government which leads to the the overall theme of naturalism and self reliancy. Essentially the theme thoreau advocates is that a simplistic lifestyle allows one to live freely and wholly without the binds of tyranny and modern conveniences. Within Henry David Thoreau s passage, probably the most conspicuous example of Thoreau s theme of minimalism and transcendentalism is when he states, Our life is frittered away by detail. An honest man has hardly need to count more than his ten fingers, or in extreme cases he may add his ten toes, and lump the rest. Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! (Thoreau 6) Essentially Thoreau advocates an honest man has no need for even the slightest of complexity in life and that a suspended state of ignorance from what is deemed as extraneous details is bliss. In this quote the word honest is a strong piece of rhetoric that exclaims that honesty and morality is primarily attained through simplicity and not through gluttony in curiosity. This connects back to my theme that thoreau advocates that a man can live virtuously only with simplicity, hence, Shams and delusions are esteemed for soundest truths, while reality is fabulous. If men would steadily observe realities only, and not allow themselves to be deluded, life, therefore of delusions created by this superfluous reality is responsible for the many of the problems we have in modern society. Thoreau once again exclaims that complexities in life are extraneous when he states, Still we live meanly, like ants; though the fable tells us that we were long ago changed into men; like pygmies we fight with cranes; it is error upon error, and clout upon clout, and our best virtue has for its occasion a superfluous and evitable wretchedness. The Role Of The Dublin Lockout Of 1913 James Larkin, the leader of the Irish Trade Union and the founder of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union once said The employers cannot carry on industry nor accumulate profits if they have not got the good will of the workers or their acquiescence in carrying on such industry. In 1911, over 300,000 people lived in Dublin. The unemployment rates were high and the average labourers wage was around one pound a week, and that was only if they had a full week of work. Living conditions were equally as inadequate as the working wages. Lydia Carroll and Enda Leaney found in a housing enquiry that 87,305 people lived in poverty, almost a third of Dublin s population. 80% of families lived in one room dwellings. According to the Public Health Report of 1913, 8,639 deaths were recorded, 1,444 were from tuberculosis and 4,642 were from nervous, circulatory, respiratory, and digestive diseases such as diarrhoea and pneumonia due to inadequate sanitary and nutrition.(Devine, pg 3 4) These conditions sparked many protests as workers became desperate. Next I will go over plagiarism, what can be plagiarized, the punishments of plagiarism, and the techniques that can be used to avoid plagiarism. And finally I will go into how Copyright law and plagiarism relate to each other, as well as talking about the public domain. First let s look at what Copyright laws protect and the penalties of infringing upon Copyrighted work. Copyright is a form of protection granted by the government which protects original works of authorship, such as books, song, movies, computer software, and more, from being stolen. However facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, cannot be Copyrighted. Having a Copyright lets you reproduce your work, make related works, make copies, and perform or display the work publicly. The penalties of infringing upon a Copyrighted work are, the infringer may be taken to court, be forced to pay the damages or lost profits the copyright infringing work cost the creator or the profits the infringer made off of the stolen work. They could also be forced to pay all attorney fees and court costs, have the illegal work impounded, and may be jailed. However, most of the time the Copyright ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Employment At The United States Employment at will Employment at will is a common law that governs work relationships in most states in the U.S. The rule states that if an employee is contracted by an employer for an indefinite period of time then the contract can be terminated by either the employee or the employer at any time and for any given reason unless there is another law in places that guide otherwise. This simply implies that if an employee is hired under the at will law then the employer can fire the employee for any reason at any time without prior warning or communication. An employee, on the other hand, may decide to leave the job at any time without reason or prior warning. The At will employment became part of the common laws for employment in the United States in the late 19th century. However, it has been modified by many states in the recent past by adding a number of exceptions in order to protect employees from unfair dismissal. Exceptions to the Rule The exceptions to the employment at will rule are meant to protect workers from wrongful termination of their employment. This is provided to all employees covered by the federal law, state laws, CDAs, public policy and employment contracts among other situations. The following are some of the major exceptions to the employment at will doctrine. Public Policy The majority of the jurisdictions in the U.S recognize the existence of certain public policy guidelines that limits the application of employment at will. Examples of such ... • 25. Tiger Woods And Its Effect On Golf Golf. A sport that was dull and mundane twenty years ago, evolved when Tiger Woods came to the scene. I started golfing during high school and loved it for the single fact, Tiger Woods played it. Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring sport played by old white men lacking a fan base. Just like myself, many people hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a change. Tour earnings were low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up the sport. Tiger Woods came on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The Tiger Effect on golf is real and more people have been trying to work harder to get to that Tiger bench mark. He single handily brought golf to the limelight and made it interesting to watch this godly like figure tear up the greens while becoming an idol to young golfers around the world. Just do it. Effects Of Corruption On Women Through the analysis of the different aspects of corruption at different levels of society, it can be argued that the differential treatment of women and their lack of empowerment (2) is the cause of the greater effect that corrupt systems have on women (1). 1. The impact of corruption on women: the greater effect of corrupt systems on women Because corrupt systems cause women to suffer from gender specific forms of corruption (a) and difficulties in accessing public services (b), women seem to be disproportionately affected by corruption. a. The women specific practices of corruption While research often focus on the different probability to pay bribes for men and women, a strong emphasis should be placed on how men and women are differently impacted by corruption. As an abuse of entrusted power in exchange for a private gain, corruption seems to accentuate those differences, especially when it takes gender specific forms. Those are disproportionately experienced by women when the currency for bribes is of a sexual nature. For instance, sexual extortion, or sextortion, is defined as the situation where sexual favors are used as a currency for corrupt practices. IAU proposed three conditions to becoming a planet. I believe from Americans point of view, Coke discovered fiddling with the formula of the 99 year old beverage was probably an assault to their patriotic pride. Here I can quote a saying from Coca Cola s President Donald R. Keough to summarize what Coca Cola has learned: We did not understand the deep emotions of so many of our customers for Coca Cola. I think any marketer who plans a noticeable revision of a product must consider the loyalty of its consumers and the possibility that the change will be rejected. To prevent this possibility, marketers should realize that balking at change is a customer characteristic of specific product preferences. Also, in this case, a more sophisticated qualitative and quantitative research could have been conducted and prevented Coke from this mistake. International Law And National Law W101: An Introduction to Law Tutor Marked Assessment TMA01 Question 1 (300) Explain the difference between: a. international law and national law Their principal differences are in their scope and their intended subjects. International law governs the relationships that states have with each other and international institutions, whereas national law applies within a nation. International law gains its force from agreements made between states and customs and practices that have been followed by states over time, whereas national law is imposed by state actors. (The Open University, 2014) b. statute law and common law Common law as a term can indicate a source of law also called case law, and the system of law which includes it as a source. (Merriam Webster, Incorporated, 2014). In the sense of common law as a source of law, it can be contrasted with statute law. Common law is a body of law based on court judgements and precedent, whereas statute law originates in formal written acts by a legislature such as Acts of Parliament (The Open University, 2014). In common law systems, judicial decisions interpret previous analogous cases and relate them to the case at hand. Typically where there are conflicts, statute takes precedence over common law as it is the creation of the democratic process rather than judicial decisions and customs. c. public law and private law Public law governs the relationships between private individuals and institutions and the state, whereas private ...
