RIP, my emo self – this news is devastating.

Apparently, while we are were all purposely distressing our Chuck Taylors, we somehow got the lyrics to Panic! at the Disco's OG emo jam, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" WRONG.

Right now you're probably smirking at your phone, because your 13-year-old ~emo~ self would never have let that happen, but hold on a sec – I've got the receipts.

BuzzFeed broke the shocking news that in the chorus of the song, the line is NOT "haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door," it's actually "closing a goddamn door."

And of course, when one Twitter user pointed it out, the tweet instantly went viral, causing many former emos to question everything they once knew.

I know you still don't believe me, so listen for yourself.

You're probably pretty worked up right now, but Brendon Urie, Panic!'s lead singer and my own teenage heartthrob, reassured fans that he has sang the song both ways.

So you probably just mixed up the lyrics because you saw them in concert, like a real fan.
