Despite being a simplified and symbolic representation of the pipeline, for example the pipe is depicted as a line, the information that these drawings incorporate is varied, this information is used in all phases of the project, from the budgeting to the construction of the plant.

- Total and partial dimensions of the pipes
- Bill of Material (BOM), i.e. type, quantity, material of the pipeline components.
- Type of pipe support.
- Spatial orientation of the pipeline with reference to the cardinal points.
- Process information such as: line number, P&ID, Piping Class, etc…
