Common Name The Black Liparis

Found in Arunachal Pradesh state of India, Thailand and Vietnam in shady humid habitats with rocky substrates at elevations of 500 to 1700 meters as a small to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial among boulders in wet areas near streams with cylindrical pseudobulbs enveloped basally by clasping sheaths and carrying to 5, ovate, plicate leaves and blooms in the spring on a terminal, 10 to 14" [25 to 35 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence.

Seidenfaden states that this orchid, L gigantea and L kikiroensis are all quite similar with this one being a larger plant with a much longer and wider lip.
