Found from Vietnam, pennisular Malaysia, Borneo, Sulawesi, Java, Sumatra and the Philippines in evergreen broadleaf and in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests and savana-like woodlands at elevations of 400 to 1100 meters as a large sized hot to warm growing epiphyte with ellipsoid, laterally compressed pseudobulbs carrying ligulate, thick, coriaceous, oblique to unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a 2' 5" [72 cm] long, basal, racemose scape that can be arched or pendant with up to 26, fragrant flowers that have brown scarious basal sheaths.

This species likes even year round, humid and warm conditions with regular fertilizer.

Found in Borneo, Java, Malaysia the Philippines, Sumatra and Sulawesi in riverine, hill forests and along roadside secondary trees at elevations of 400 to 1100 meters and differs from the type in the densely pubescent lip, the sepals that are just slightly longer than the petals and the petals are weakly porrect and spreading.
