Common Name The Curled Aerides
Flower Size to 2" [to 5 cm]
Found in southwestern India in semi-evergreen forests at elevations of 700 to 1300 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a thick dull violet purple stem carrying spreading, thick, coriaceous, pale green with dull-violet -purple basally, unequally bilobed apically with a small mucro between the lobes, strap-shaped leaves that blooms in the spring through fallon an axillary, 16 to 20" [40 to 50 cm] long, erect to arching, branched, 20 to 25 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant [pineapple or sassafrass] flowers
