In English, this song's title translates to "And There Was Somebody," and it was the lead single released from Anthony's third album, Contra La Corriente, in 1997. The song was at the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for four weeks when it debuted and became Anthony's first song to reach no. 1 on the charts.

In English, "Against the Current," tells the story of a man who is trying to forget about a woman but can't. The song was on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for 26 weeks and reached no. 2 in 1998. The album by the same name went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Tropical Latin Performance in 1999.

Years before they started dating, got married, and eventually had kids together, Lopez and Anthony collaborated on this song in 1999, which was featured on her debut studio album On the 6. "No Me Ames" won Hot Latin Track of the Year by a Vocal Duo at the 2000 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
