Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A monopodial lithophyte or terrestrial, it has a clumping growth form.  
Foliage The leaves are dark green with light green tessellations and are oblong to lanceolate in shape. The leaf underside is covered with purple specks. 
Flowers The flowers are borne on a 1 to 2-flowered terminal inflorescence measuring 4 to 8 cm long. The flowers measure between 5 to 9 cm wide and consist of white sepals and petals covered with purple splotches. The flower lip is white with small purple spots. 
Habitat It is found growing in humus-filled cracks on limestone cliffs and islands at altitudes of 0 to 100 m.
