The Philadelphia Eagles’ fans will sing the team’s fight song, “Fly, Eagles, Fly” after every touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Don’t know the words? Well, here are the lyrics:
Fly, Eagles, Fly
On the road to victory
Fight, Fight, Fight
Fight, Eagles, Fight
Score a touchdown 1-2-3
1-2-3
Hit ‘em low
Hit ‘em high
And watch our Eagles fight
Fly Eagles Fly
On the road to victory
E-A-G-L-E-S!
Eagles!
Originally, the song’s title and first line were “Fight, Eagles, Fight,” but that was changed when the long-forgotten song was reintroduced by the team in 1999.
In 1960, Charles Borrelli and Roger Courtland took their fandom to the next level and created the “Eagles’ Victory Song.” The song lost its popularity in the early 1990s and in an attempt to bring it back, Eagles management changed its musical key and renamed it “Fly, Eagles Fly.”
Perhaps the best known NFL fight song belonged to the Washington Redskins, who have since been renamed the Commanders:
Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath!
Fight for old D.C.!
Run or pass and score--We want a lot more!
Beat ‘em, Swamp ‘em,
Touchdown! -- Let the points soar!
Fight on, fight on ‘Til you have won
Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!
Hail to the Redskins!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath!
Fight for old D.C.!
