DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Isolatocereus dumortieri is a species of cactus that originates from Mexico, specifically in the Sierra Madre Oriental. This plant primarily grows in dry, rocky areas with limestone soils. Due to its adaptability, this species has been able to spread to other arid climates.

Characteristics
This cactus stands out for its columnar structure that grows about two to four meters high. Its trunks are greyish green and divided into segments with sharp, rigid spines. During the blooming period, the Isolatocereus dumortieri produces graceful, fragrant flowers. These white to pink flowers open at night and close at sunrise.

Care
Although the Isolatocereus dumortieri is drought-resistant, it performs best with regular watering during the growing season. Less water is needed in winter and in extreme cold the plant even has to be brought indoors. The cactus needs plenty of direct sunlight and well-draining soil to prevent root rot. An annual dose of cactus fertiliser during the growing season contributes to healthy growth.
