BOOK: THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY

AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR: EZRA JACK KEATS

PUBLISHER: PUFFIN BOOKS

PAGES: 32

AGE RECOMMENDED: 3+

The Little Drummer Boy is the story of a poor boy who couldn’t afford a gift for the newborn Christ Child, so he played his drum at the manger with Mary’s approval. The baby smiled, delighted with the Little Drummer Boy’s skillful playing.

A beautiful carol and Nathan’s favourite carol this year. As it’s his favourite, he asked me if I could paint him a doll. I obliged and I did🙈 peg dolls are my new favourite and it’s such a joy to paint them.

Each page in the book has the lyrics of the carol and beautiful illustrations. End of the book, there is a musical note where we can refer to and play. The carols are available all over the internet.

The main purpose for me getting this book for Nathan is to tell him material gifts are always not necessary when you want to gift someone special. Here the drummer-boy played his drum, and he gifted his music to Jesus. A fictional character to the Nativity scene, but a very thoughtful character.

Merry Christmas to each one of you all from Karen and Nathan.
