James Blunt's 2004 hit 'You're Beautiful' may seem like a very romantic song, so much so that it is often played as a first dance at weddings, but the singer has revealed that the story behind the song is darker than most think.

If truly focusing on the lyrics, it turns out that 'You're Beautiful' is about Blunt seeing a former girlfriend on the London Underground.

"It's about me stalking somebody else's girlfriend on the underground while I'm high, but people play it at their weddings, which is nice " the singer explained on The John Bishop Show on Saturday night.

This wasn't the first time Blunt had revealed the true meaning behind the song, as he also did so in an interview with Oprah in 2006.

" It was about seeing my ex-girlfriend on the Underground in London with her new man, who I didn't know existed," he said then.

"She and I caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment, but didn't do anything about it. We haven't seen each other since."
