Classic rock staples Journey, Steve Miller Band coming to Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena

"Fly Like an Eagle." "Don't Stop Believin'." "The Joker." "Wheel in the Sky." "Take the Money and Run." "Any Way You Want It."

Listen to any classic rock station for more than about 30 minutes and the odds are good you'll hear at least one song from either the Steve Miller Band or Journey.

The two rock icons team up for a show Thursday night at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. They both have long histories - Miller's first album was released in 1968, Journey's in 1975 - and tens of millions of albums sold.

They also have a staggering number of alumni between them. More than 30 people have played in Miller's band over the years, and more than a dozen have been in Journey (including, for a couple of years in the mid-1980s, former "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson).

Oddly enough, considering that both acts come from San Francisco, there's only one guy who's played in both bands - Journey bassist Ross Valory, who appeared on Miller's 1971 album, "Rock Love."

Journey's current lineup includes just two original members, Valory and guitarist Neal Schon. They're joined on stage by keyboard player Jonathan Cain, who joined the band in 1980, plus drummer Deen Castronovo and singer Arnel Pinada.
