What you see here are images of the Honda Jazz / Fit Shuttle which will go on sale in Japan later this month. Announced officially in February, the Fit Shuttle is a MPV based on the Jazz / Fit and aims at offering more practicality with its added space.

The Fit Shuttle will come with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which is essentially the same engine that runs the current generation Honda City in India. Also on offer is a 1.3-litre hybrid powerplant that will keep the environmentalists happy.

This move from Honda is pretty much similar to what Toyota did with the Prius in the form of the Prius V. Considering that the duty structure for such hybrids is still ridiculously high in India, we don’t expect to see the Fit Shuttle hybrid in India anytime soon. But as far as the petrol powered Fit Shuttle is concerned, we believe that Honda should consider such a vehicle for India. With vehicles like the Suzuki R3 on their way and the likes of the Toyota Innova amassing a healthy market share, the Jazz / Fit Shuttle could be one strong contender from the Honda stables.
