Item Description
5x7" glossy signed by Jimmy Drake c. 1956 when his novelty song was a nationwide sensation on the Dot label in May. For those who don't know it by heart it begins "Toolin' down the highway doin' 79 I'm a twin pipe papa and I'm feelin fine. Hey man, dig that-was that a red stop sign? (squeeeal...kee-rash!)/Transfusion, transfusion I'm just a solid mess of contusions/Never never never gonna speed again. Slip the blood to me, bud." Ink inscription reads "Hi Bob! Nervous (done in extremely shaky lettering) Norvus." Bit of ft. gray spotting on upper right corner, tiny spot and .25" ink mark on bottom margin. His other few famous titles for Dot were "Dig, Ape Call, The Wild Dogs Of Kentucky, The Fang." Invited to appear on Ed Sullivan, true to character, Drake was too nervous to accept. VF.
