Street Legal Racing: Redline is a, now free, racing game by Invictus Games Ltd. and published by Activision. The game was released on PC in 2003. The games main feature is the very extensive customization, allowing the player to take the entire car apart, and being able to completely rebuild cars from scratch. There is also an extensive damage model, which includes performance damage. Damage must be repaired at a garage and any parts damaged beyond repair must be replaced.
There are two racing "venues" in the game. The player can either race other street racers in the city OR can participate in the Race Of Champions after completing all of the criteria to enter. The price car for the ROC in 2.2.1 is the Prime DLH 500 or if the 2.3.0 Live! Edition patch is installed, the Furrano GTS.
There are two ways to patch the game, MWM or Live! Edition. The MWM patch adds more to the game than the Live! patch but is less stable and has the older UI. The Live! Edition changes the UI of the game and fixes some of the bugs not resolved in 2.2.1. It also changes the reward car for the ROC to the Furrano GTS. The MWM patch runs off of game version 2.2.1 while Live! Edition upgrades the game to 3.1.0.
There is also thousands of mods including new cars, engines, bodykits, exhausts, wheels, wings, maps and patches. The main source for these mods is streetlegalmods.com. It is also possible to download the full game for free as it is now abandonware.
