When Greta Gerwig announced she was working on a Barbie movie, I thought, Yeah, why not? If anyone can pull it off, it’s the director of Lady Bird! As with any blockbuster, I pictured a decked-out press tour. Maybe this one would come with a pink carpet, or a limited-edition Mattel doll or two. Something fun and fresh. Never in my wildest dreams did I picture Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj teaming up to create a song for the film.

Reader? They did, it's perfect, and my summer has officially started.

“Barbie World” is a spin on Aqua’s 2011 pop anthem of the same name. This time, the song got a hip-hop rebrand, combining Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s lyrical expertise for two minutes of pure fun. With bars like, “I’m a doll, but I still wanna party / Pink ‘Vette like I’m ready to bend / I’m a ten, so I pull a Ken,” the track takes you on a musical whirlwind. Could this be the song of the summer? I think so.

Check out the track’s music video—which is just as stellar, by the way—below. It begins with two little girls playing with Barbies that look like Nicki and Ice. Within seconds, the dolls come to life (of course), and the rappers take you through their personalized dream house. It's decked out with dancing Ken dolls, hilarious product placement for Olipop soda, and pink jet skis surfing through cotton candy clouds.

If we’re lucky, someone at the Mattel factory is whipping up the new-and-improved dream house as we speak. If not, we can count on more doll-themed fun very soon. The Barbie movie lands in theaters on July 21. So put on something pink, stream “Barbie World,” and have yourself a damn summer.
