Updated article published on 04/01/21: Gwen Stefani is continuing to delight her fans more throwback fashion transformations.

On December 7 the singer released her new song ‘Let Me Reintroduce Myself’ with lyrics that reflect on certain moments in her career, including a namecheck on ‘bananas’ (a reference to her 2004 song ‘Hollaback Girl’). To coincide with the song's release, she shared several social media posts of outfits clearly inspired by her 1990s and early 2000s looks.

'Not a comeback, I'm recycling me,' she sings in the tune, reflecting on her near three decade-long career.

In her music video for the song (which dropped on YouTube on January 2), the mother-of-two pays tribute to several musical and fashion moments in her career, most notably by rewearing outfits she’s worn in previous music videos and for red carpet appearances.

In one scene, the singer wears a version of the black and white polka dot dress she wore in her band No Doubt’s video for ‘Don’t Speak’, and in another wears a cropped white tank top with a red and blue trim paired with blue tracksuit bottoms, similar to the look worn in her ‘Just A Girl’ music video

Wearing a face mask at several moments in the video in keeping with Covid-19 guidelines, the singer also sports a hair do' consisting of blue hair and space buns, which is near identical to the hairstyle she wore for the MTV VMAs in 1998.

At one point, the singer wears a white striped bikini top and black hat, which is a nod to her collaboration with Eve on their 2001 hit ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind’, and at another she dons a similar short blonde ‘lob’ wig with a fringe and white sunglasses to those worn in her ‘Wind It Up Video’ (2006).

In the middle of the clip, the star also makes a nod to her engagement to fellow singer Blake Shelton by raising her wedding finger to show off her sparkly diamond ring.

Article originally published on 07/012/20: Gwen Stefani has reminded us all that not only is she the queen of 1990s fashion, but she's also incapable of ageing.

In a teaser to Instagram shared over the weekend, the 'Hollaback Girl' singer shared a series of images of herself to announce new music, which will be released later this week.

In one image, the newly-engaged Stefani wears a pair of blue utility-inspired trousers with a red trim on the sides, paired with a white cropped tank top with a matching finish.

The singer gives the look a twist by pairing it with sheer tights, worn underneath the trousers, pristine white heeled pumps, red lipstick and her famous curled 1950s-inspired fringe and ponytail.

'LET ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF, [sic]' she captioned the post. 'New single coming 12/7. [sic]', and later shared a close-up of her look in which she salutes the camera.

The cover art of her new single also sees Stefani dressed in a black and gold bondage-style bustier with cut-off shorts and black tassels. She teams the outfit with a pair of thigh-high black boots, a slick of black eyeliner and carries a checked shirt over her shoulder.

No Doubt fans will have instantly recognised the first, sporty look, which appears to be a direct 'throwback' from her outfits from her band's chart-topping music video for 'Just a Girl'.

The band released the song on its third studio album, Tragic Kingdom, in 1995. In the accompanying video, Stefani was dressed in a near-identical get-up, albeit the most recent recreation sans drawn-on brows.

If this isn't proof that Gwen is ageing in reverse, we don't know what is.

After sharing the photo of her new artwork, the singer's fans took to the comment's section of the post on Twitter to express their excitement for the track.

One fan wrote that the upcoming single release 'isn’t just a song; it is a cultural reset [sic]'. Another included a preemptive apology to their followers for 'tweeting so much about gwen stefani after let me reintroduce myself comes out [sic]'.

While we wait with baited breathe for the upcoming release, we'll be practising our best cat-eye liner and bold red lips in the meantime.
