1989 "Touch" was re-released on Arista with several re-mixed songs and a new track. "Touch" was originally recorded in 1988 on the Canadian label, Nettwerk, and since it is so rare, it is a must find for any die-hard Sarah McLachlan fan. The single, "Vox" was released in 1988, and "Steaming" came out in 1989. The song, "Trust", replaced "Ben's Song (78 version) from the original 1988 album. Sarah would not become popular in Canada until 1991 with her album "Solace", and internationally in 1994 with "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy". In 1993, Sarah McLachlan and Nettwerk were sued by Darryl Neudorf, who claimed that he contributed with the songwriting on "Touch" but did not get credited for it. Sarah and Nettwerk did admit that Darryl was helpful to the success of the album, but not primarily in the songwriting department. Sarah and Nettwerk won the lawsuit after the judge ruled in their favor.Read full review
I decided to buy this CD because I didn't have some of the older discs by Sarah McLachlan in my collection. I really like this CD - it's very interesting to see how Ms. McLachlan's musical talent has progressed over the years and the lyrics are great - they really give a depth to the person represented by them. A+
what can i say? Hmm I was 3 years old when sarah made this album! and..i dont like it....! except the songs vox and drawn to the rythm... her voice is so different compared to now. her voice back then is like.......there's a frog in her throat. the album is hideous. but i guess is a classic...dont you think? it's not bad to have it in your collection of sarah mclachlan i guess.
strictly for Sarah fans! this was her first release right before "Solace" I guess, Sarah was young and still trying to find her sound. There were three singles, "Vox" "Steaming" and "Bens Songs" which are the three best tracks on the cd. "Steaming" sound more like her new stuff, which is pretty cool. "Vox" sound more like she was leaning towards new age...who would have known she would be this successful today. her later albums are much better..and she has great lyrics.
What an anwsome CD!!! I originally bought this CD in the early 90's when I was going through an extremely rough period in my life. The words in the songs completely mirrored what was going on in my own life. Music has always been a way for me to get some of those deep feelings out. Wonderful! Probably Sarah's best CD to date!!1
