After finally being done with "Warner Bros., "The Artist" shaved the name "Slave" off his face, and released the massive 36 track "Emancipation"....

Because it is so HUGE, I will just focus on the highlights...I bought the massive 6 Vinyl reissue so I will categorize it that way (bare with me Guys)....

Record 1 starts with the jumppin' "Jam Of The Year" with help from "Rosie Gaines"....I personally don't know why she wasn't still in the band, because she always came and helped "The Artist" out....

"Right Back Here In My Arms" is a cool little number...

The Crown Jewel of Record 1. "Somebody's Somebody", is a straight groover that will make your head bob....

"Get Yo Groove On" is another JUMPIN' joint, with help from "Eric Leeds" and new members of the "NPG", Guitarist "Kathleen Dyson" and Bassist "Rhonda Smith"....

"The Artist" gets a little kooky with "Courtin' Time", with help from "The NPG Hornz"...

Then "The Artist" did something that he rarely does, a Remake....

"Betcha By Golly Wow!", which he dedicated to his now Wife "Mayte", in anticipation of the birth of their child....Now it doesn't have anything on "The Stylistics" version, but it is a nice offering...

On to Record 2 with "We Gets Up", just JUMPIN' all over the place....

"White Mansion" was cool, just like "Somebody's Somebody"....

"Damned If I Do" was another JAMMY JAM....

The 2 Crown Jewels of Record 2:

"I Can't Make U Love Me" (Written-By James Allen Shamblin II, Mike Barry Reid), I'm sorry guys, is much better than "Bonnie Raitt's" version.....

"In This Bed I Scream" is a cautionary tale of a very bad relationship.....

The next 2 records are my least favorites, but there are highlights...

For Record 3 its, "One Kiss At A Time", "Emale", and "Dreamin' About U"....

Record 4's is "Let's Have A Baby", "The Plan", and the Crown Jewel, "Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother / Wife", which was played at "The Artist" and "Mayte's" wedding, with "Kirk Johnson" being the Best Man....

Record 5 was also kind of a sleeper to me....

The only joints on there is "Face Down" (even though I wish it wasn't so explicit!!!!), "Style", and his version of "The Delfonics", "La, La, La Means I Love You" (with a little help from "Chanté Moore")....

Last by not least, Record 6 (which is the BEST one), starts with the outstanding "Sleep Around", which pleads with People to be FAITHFUL or SUFFER the consequences.....

"Da, Da, Da" (featuring "Scrap D.") has a great subject matter about how "Black Men" are being viewed (just wished it wasn't so explicit also)....

"My Computer" (featuring "Kate Bush") may sound kinda kooky, but it's "Funky"!!!!

"Joan Osborne's" "One Of Us" obviously reached "The Artist" heart, because he KILLS it!!!!

"The Love We Make" (The Crown Jewel) is one of his most unsung songs....

Then after ALLLLL of that, the album closing "Title Track" sums up everything that he was feeling as an "Artist".....

I guess this could have been part of an Album Revolution, but it would take a while for that one...But at lease right here, "The Artist" was in a happy state of mind, and this album reflect all of that......

PS: I was mistaken, at first I said that "One Of Us", was made by "Kate Bush", when it was really "Joan Osborne".....Thanks guys {"Maslakoff" and "heffrey").......I knew, but was not paying attention......As you Guys can see, I made the correction....

Can anyone comment on any pressing quality differences between the European and US versions of this? By the looks of the matrix codes, the European version just looks like another variant. Thanks!

Amazing 6 LP box set has 150 gram vinyl NOT 180 as advertised. Flat Purple marble vinyl is beautiful and is very quiet. Each LP has its own cover with thick paper inner sleeve, both with awesome photography and notes. The paper inner sleeves caused so much static. I pre cleaned each LP and stored in a poly lined sleeve, which fit perfectly in the individual covers. Love the box’s design, which allowed me to retain the shrink wrap for an extra layer of protection. Great buy on Amazon for $63 (7/2/2022)

I agree with REENO. I'm not sure this album is particularly vinyl worthy at all, but I'm a Prince fan. I'm also a Pearl Jam fan, own Riot Act on vinyl, and feel the same way. That being said, I have listened to all 6 vinyls, and this is a not a good pressing. The only reason to own this is to satisfy completionism. It is an extremely noisy pressing that no amount of cleaning will cure.

I think this is the first Prince album I've seen that's actually decreased in price... It's still $100 on the official site

One of the best Prince album period ! As far as I'm concerned this was one of my favorite Prince when it came out and still is in my Prince top 5. Shame my copy has vinyl 2 & 4 with pressing defaults. I have to exchange it. Nowadays when you get several LPs in a box set, you can bet one of the vinyls will have a problem (the future 10xLPs for 1999 gets me into a panic). Would Majors please consider doing test pressings ? Thank you for us who spend our money. Shame and not very Professional.

Good sounding vinyl with beautiful packaging. One or two typos/line breaks on the text that weren't on the original CD/cassette release but still a beautiful box set and certainly an album deserving of one.
