Eat for Free at Korea House
Owner's "spiritual healing" leads her to feed folks for free

Beginning Wednesday, September 6, Korea House will feed everyone for free between 11am and 8pm on the first Wednesday of each month, regardless of their religious beliefs or economic situation.
The owner of Korea House, "Momma Kim," spent five years away from the restaurant. During that time, according to a Facebook post, she experienced "immense spiritual healing" that inspired her to "carry on God's work" by feeding the community.
On the first Wednesday of every month, diners can choose from a limited menu that includes beef and chicken bulgogi and kimchi jjigae completely free of charge. Tipping is allowed but not expected.
Korea House, a 2021 First Plates Hall of Fame inductee, opened in 1988 and is understood to be the first Korean restaurant in Austin. It is deeply beloved both for its ambience and its classic Korean dishes (that kimchi jjigae is the cure for what ails you, whether it's a cold or a hangover).
