About the author

Pete began writing as a young boy writing a horror novella by 7th grade (The Bizarre Life of Ben). In his adolescence and early adulthood, he focused on writing lyrics and playing drums in various Christian rock bands. This culminated in the 2004 recording of a professional CD with Screaming Archangel penning the lyrics for all thirteen original songs. He has tried his hand in many facets of published writing: from short stories, poetry, newspaper articles, church plays, a screenplay, to Christian rock lyrics. In 2010, he published his first novel.
Whisper A Scream (Noche Files I- 2nd edition) is his first Supernatural Thriller of a trilogy. It tells the story of Solomon Noche, who discovers a cult sacrificing children to a demon in a small town in the hills of Kentucky. It deals with demons, deception, tangible dreams, time travel, and deliverance through Christ.
Whisper A Scream took off well in the Fall of 2011 and reached #1 Horror; #1 Religious Fiction; #1 Occult Horror; and as high as #5 Mystery & Thrillers with Customer Rated on Amazon Kindle!
Whisper From The Woods (Noche Files II) In Whisper From The Woods, Solomon Noche discovers a serial killer named Silencer (who believes it's his divine destiny to eradicate sin one 'chosen' at a time) has been dumping bodies in the woods behind his home. As he is thrust into a horror adventure through his nightmares, backwards riddles, and a cryptic journal, he realizes that the last person he must save is the killer himself.
Pete currently lives in Kentucky and has four children (Josh, Rachel, Eden, Gideon). He is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, with an MA in Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University (1999) and a BA in Psychology and Pastoral Counseling from Oral Roberts University (1997). He has worked in many avenues in the mental health, social work, grief therapy, Christian Counseling fields, and currently an adolescent psychotherapist.

I’m not exactly sure how to explain the events that happened in my life in the past 20 years, but ironically after reading this book, I believe the demon Miyah and his servants possessed me and other people that were connected to me due to it’s dislike of my grandfather.
I’m thankful God ,my friends ,and family guided me to see. Be careful when you’re weak, because that is when they got us!
God always wins - even when the battle takes many years - good always defeats evil!
Can't wait for the sequel next year. Pete's "Taking Care of Business"!!
Good:
Turner can be very descriptive when he wants to be. Though he doesn't always use these skills, when he does, he can paint a picture. The story is fast-paced and there are some scenes of real tension. There are many scenes where the reader gets a sense of creepiness or eeriness, something which is sometimes rare in Christian thrillers. I liked the epilogue that explained why Turner wrote what he did and how he hopes it brings people close to Christ. One of the best things about this book is that you can actually see Turner developing as a writer. At the beginning of the book, he uses short choppy sentences and very vague and generic reactions for his characters. Near the end of the novel, though, he gives flowing ideas and descriptions that could contend with most authors.
Bad:
This is the single most poorly edited book I have ever read. I have no idea what Treasureline Publishing got paid for on this one. There are many words missing, inappropriate punctuation, and use of the wrong word. At first I tried not to let this bother me, but it's rampant throughout the whole book and it becomes distracting, especially when tension is building in the story and then you have to stop to try and figure out what word Turner meant instead of the one written or missing. At times I felt like Turner's favorite words were "WOW!" or "WHOA!" These are fine expressions but they were used so often and in every situation that it became annoying. For instance a deformed boy suddenly appears before Solomon, the main character, and his response is "WHOA!" Really? Not "My mouth instantly dried so much that my tongue was sticking to my teeth and I nearly lost control of my bladder." Just "WHOA!" As written above however, Turner gets better and more articulate about halfway through the book. Finally, though Turner is good at building tension, this novel lacked the subtlety of Dekker or Peretti, the subtlety that allows the reader time to wonder about what is lurking or what is making that awful sound. Turner instead uses a more matter of fact style, simply stating then this happened, and then this happened. This is an art that I'm sure comes with practice however, so it's not a huge concern.
Overall, I liked the book, but I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have the hype of 5/5 stars and 55 reviews to raise my expectations. I would suggest this novel to anyone interested in Christian thrillers or horror but keep these 2 things in mind: this is Turner's first novel and most authors don't produce masterpieces on the first try, and remember that this novel has extremely poor editing. I think that Turner has a long future in Christian thrillers and I look forward to seeing him reach his potential, especially if he cuts ties with Treasureline Publishing.
