With their horn-laden songs and distinctive vocal style of Ian Hunter and Mick Ralph's guitar style,MTH certainly had plenty of attitude, but also humour eg: "Sha la la la push push of female backing vocalists on Roll away the stone - is priceless!
The above song and all other UK hit singles; All the young dudes,All the way from Memphis,The golden age of rock 'n' roll,Honaloochie boogie and Foxy foxy - are all included - as is Saturday gigs (no 41) a hit in my books.
With other less familiar tracks including; Rock n roll queen (this music genre keeps cropping up),Marionette and The ballad of Mott the hopple - this is an excellent overview of the career of Mott the hopple.
You could never shove them in a glam rock niche box - they where more edgier than that.oh - the sound quality is excellent too, despite reservations from another reviewer.good sleeve notes also.
Enjoy this '40th anniversary' collection of Motts... finest.I certainly wasn't disappointed!
