About the Author

Elvis Presley (1935–1977) was a talented musician, singer, and actor. He was widely acclaimed as “The King of Rock 'n' Roll” and had an unprecedented total of 114 Top-40 hits. His runaway success continues to make his music popular to this day. He is a true legend in music history.

Bruce Whatley is the author and illustrator of many popular and award-winning books, including Whatley's Quest and Detective Donut and the Wild Goose Chase, which he co-wrote with Rosie Smith. He is also the illustrator of The Teddy Bears' Picnic, There Ain't No Bugs on Me, and The Night Before Christmas. Mr. Whatley lives with his wife, Rosie, and their children, Ellyn and Ben, in Meredith, NH.

A Daddy loving by doing makes this book one I hug, and my students into middle school did, too. I used it with my beginning ESOL students who could read/sing finding delight and fluency. They haven't "met" Elvis Presley yet but they have felt the affection between the father and daughter. I especially liked that golf was included in their activities. The new generation which received my latest gift of this book will be tickled that there are golfers in this book anyway. Most of my dearest stories have dated activities-not this one. Bravo! I think I have now purchased for school and family about 20 copies since the book first came out. That's new for me.

After reading these reviews, I will definitely buy this book.
First of all, because it sounds like the illustrations are outstanding, but...
mostly because my DIL, who is a BIG Elvis fan, has named our sweet little granddaughter, who will be one on July of 2010, Presley! Guess who this little girl is named for? The King, of course. This sounds like a perfect book for us to read to Presley, so I will have to order it and see if it is as good as it sounds. Also, our son, Presley's Dad, who is in the USMC, is currently serving in Afghanistan. So what better book to read to our little Presley than a book that shows a Dad reading to his daughter, in our case, the Dad is not with his daughter, but is thinking of her all the time. I look forward to seeing this book!
