Bing and the Andrews sisters made such great music together and all of it is collected together on this double CD. There are also a few out-takes (they call them blow-ups on the track listing, and they appear near the end of CD 2) and they provide further proof of just how much FUN Bing and the ladies had recording this music.
The official recordings are presented in chronological order, beginning with Ciribiribin and Yodelin' jive, which provided them with a double-sided hit in 1939 and 1940, up to and beyond their last hit (Sparrow in the tree top, a top ten hit from 1951). In between, you get all the classics, including two number ones (A hot time in the town of Berlin and the often-covered Don't fence me in).
The music is happy, upbeat, swinging, good-time music of the type you expect from the Andrews sisters. If you want the slow, romantic stuff, look elsewhere (including Bing's solo recordings).
The sisters really had only one way of singing, and they were better than anybody else at their type of music. Their contribution to popular music remains unique to this day, and I find their music very addictive. They will always have a special place in my CD collection.
Bing was more versatile. He could sing all types of song, but he just fitted in with the sisters when he sang with them. What he added to their music was a certain gravitas, and the combination made for some of the best - and most enjoyable - music ever recorded.

I've always been a big fan of the Andrews Sisters and of course I heard a few of the songs they did together with Bing Crosby. However, I was intrigued by this CD as it said it was their complete recordings together. I wasn't disappointed, even by their most obscure tunes, though some take a bit of getting used to. Comes with a nice little book explaining how they were brought together, including detailed notes of each recording session. Buy it and enjoy!

I'm 27 years old as of this writing and this double disc just takes me back to the times before I was even born. I love Bing. And the Andrews Sisters are quite some heavyweights as well. This is some feel good music right here.
I was delighted to see Jingle Bells on here. That's the best version EVER. The Andrews Sisters will floor you with their talent. I never realized how soulful and funky they could be. They definitely have some rhythm and skill. Just listen to Bing try to keep up with them.
Bing, the man. Nobody can do it like Bing. So versatile, so nimble, such range. I love this set.
Be sure to stick around for the bloopers. They're fun. Also impressive once you realize that all four singers plus the band were all recording at the time. Absolutely impressive. That's unheard of these days.

If you're a fan of either the Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby of the music of the big band era, then this should be required listening for you. This recording covers the whole spectrum of the Crosby-Andrews partnership that prodcued so many gold records. I purchased this CD set about 15 years ago and it's been lost to time and several moves. The sound quality on the MP3 isn't perfect, but it does capture the magic of these recordings. Definitely a must have for any music collection.....I just wish the digital album included the same liner notes from the original CD set.

53 recordings in four years. An amazing output. An amazing collaboration. Amazing voices! Let's face it I'm amazed. I can listen to this collection over and over. I thrill over the vocal gymnastics present. If you aren't familiar with Bing and the Andrews Sisters the. Shame on you! Start here and branch out. I guarantee no disappointments.

Crosby is the best, and the Andrews sisters are perfect - together, they make great harmony! All the great songs, all the sweet and silly lyrics, the best of the best, can't say enough good things about this album.

Lots of wonderful songs. Good sound quality. Some fun song versions at the end, like bloopers.

A Joyous CD

It does not get better than this. This is truly happy music what we need in these parlous times. There is something special about the combination of Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters - they brought the best out in each other. All the well known hits are here along with the million sellers. But there are others which will take your fancy or not e.g. I'll see ya ya in Bahia, Life is so Peculiar, Tallahassie, South Rampart Street Parade which are particular favourites of mine. There is hours of endless music listening here which I would defy anyone not to be in brilliant and top form after listening to this CD. A glorious , delectable and endlessly enjoyable CD which no one should be afraid to purchase.

What could be better than Bing and The Andrew Sisters!

Excellent CD - my Dad had all their albums which I haven't been able to play as I don't possess a turn table. Tried to buy this CD 9-10 years ago but it was never in stock. Glad I got it second hand - has been wonderful hearing all their recordings together again. Was expensive but for me it was money well spent.

Been singing away to it since it was delivered!!!! Some of the arrangements are truly superb. I would love to be able to sing with such ease together as these four do.
