Nice summer vine.
5 Stars
Nice summer vine.
They started sprouting in a few days. Some were mini orange morning glory type with the heart shaped leaves and others were the dark green, ferny type leaf with the red flowers which I prefer. The true cypress vine can climb to over 6ft. The orange morning glory type is great for a three foot trellis or obelisk. The seeds are the size of cracked pepper, but round like a mustard seed. The red in the picture is red salvia. The orange flower is at the bottom center.

I ordered these and planted them thinking they were an actual Cypress Vine.
They are coming up and the leaves are not right, they look like morning glories.
Come to find out that I ordered cypress vine like it says in the description of what they're selling but it is actually Ipomoea multifida which is a cross between a morning glory and a cypress vine. I'm sure they will be lovely, however it is not what I ordered. They are refunding my money and I will look for the cypress vine with another seller. It has a feathery pretty leaf to it and small star shaped blooms, this is more of a morning glory and that is not what I wanted for this particular flower bed.

Started these seeds in my basement with a grow lamp and they grew beautifully up to 3 to 4 " tall, finally in the beginning of June took them outside and planted them and within three days they disappeared. Not sure what happened. I have had this climber before and Loved it. My nursery did not get them this year which is why I bought the seeds. Too bad, I love the climber, but it just didn't work out for me.

I will write a followup to my request for a replacement - but I wanted cardinal climber ipomoea multifida....oh that is what it says here, and that is what it says on the receipt. but clearly on the seed packets what you get is ipomoea quamoclit "cypress vine" a totally different plant!

I want cardinal climber and so if you do - you don't want to order this mislabeled item!

OK they contacted me back immediately and said their packer got confused and they will let me keep the cypress vine and are sending the cardinal climber. I will update as time goes on.

WOW in less than 3 days I had a new shipment that was Cardinal Climber and received extra in the order. The seeds are larger than cypress vine although the vines are similar.
GREAT COMPANY TO ORDER FROM ~ just make sure if you are wanting cardinal climber that you get it. It is VERY EASY to mistake the two vines (seeds) both are ipomoea.

These are beautiful vining plants, the seeds seemed to grow a flower from each and every one, they vined up my deck side in western sun and heat, tolerated this well. I live in ND and they lived through our cold spring and freezing night temps, this last weekend they were happy and bright red

They never grew.

planted this vine from seed for years. And this was the first time a packet came with very specific directions that the seeds must be soaked in water over night.

Followed the directions, out of 25 seeds, only 2 plants.

Disappointing.
