In the amazing scrap bag I recently received were a number of orphan blocks.
Among them, this Sunbonnet Sue.
Great condition. Authentic. On a real feed/flour sack. It even has print on the back.
Anyway, Monica from Diary of a Quilt Maven spotted her in the picture and offered to make a pattern. So, here it is. I hope it will print properly. If you click on the image it should expand to full size and then print.
I was waiting to post it because I wanted to make one myself. However, time is not on my side and I am a beginner, but everyone has to start somewhere. Later.
If you are having trouble printing or anything, let me know and I will e-mail you the PDF.
I would love to see your creations using this pattern. And, thanks to Monica (and her clever husband) for help in making it available. It will be filed under Tutorials, even though it isn’t strictly speaking, so you’ll be able to find it easily in the future, too.
What a great find a really nice pattern with a terrific use of fabric and colours.
You did a great job.
Do you have enough blocks for a small quilt?
Precious block Thanks for sharing.
a friend of mine made a quilt of her–Sunbonnet Sue and her partner–Straw hat Sam…it was so neat..her blocks were about 15″ square as she hated working on small things..she ironed it on then went around with black embroidery thread..all the Sams had denim overalls on them..wish i had asked for the pattern..she has been gone for several years..this reminded me of her..

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I am e-mailing you a PDF. Also, adding a PDF option to the post for future users. I hope this solves the problem. Deanna.
Cute pattern. I’ve never heard of Sunbonnet Sue but stumbled upon this on a google search for reproduction prints. I traced the smaller version of the image because I think it would look cute on a doll quilt. 🙂
pattern is 2 large doesnt print right please send pdf thanks
I tried to print the pattern—it only prints left half. Can you e-mail me the pattern please. I would love to do it up.
