Hear the Misfits cover Limp Bizkit’s ‘Break Stuff’ thanks to Limp Mizfit

It’s the burning question that has gone unanswered for decades, but now we’ve finally discovered what it sounds like when the Misfits‘ Glenn Danzig takes on the veritable nu-metal classic ‘Break Stuff’ by Limp Bizkit.

For as long as music has existed, so too has the cover version, with countless artists showcasing their fondness for others by reinventing a beloved song in their own style. In recent decades, the mashup has gained momentum, with artists combining one or more tracks to create something we never knew we needed.

Now, the two concepts have seen Limp Bizkit and the Misfits thrown into the ring thanks to the power of the internet and the anonymous duo Limp Mizfit.

Hailing from the fictional town of Lodi, Florida (that is, the respective homes of the Misfits and Limp Bizkit), the duo (which reportedly comprises Glenn Durstzig and Wes Wolfgang von Borlandstein) share their unique take on Limp Bizkit’s 1999 single ‘Break Stuff’, dubbing the track ‘All Hell Breaks Stuff’.

The amazing thing though is that it’s nowhere near as cheap or gimmicky as it may sound, with the frenetic musical stylings of the Misfits expertly paired with Fred Durst’s iconic, angst-ridden lyrics, all filtered through a near-perfect impression of Glenn Danzig himself. Of course, some folks over in the YouTube comments have noted that the vocals in fact sound closer to John C. Reilly than Danzig, meaning we’re probably going to need to hear Dr. Steve Brule covering ‘Where Eagles Dare’ next to test this theory.

If this all sounds familiar to you, then there’s a good chance you might have heard the duo’s debut single played on triple j’s short.fast.loud program overnight. Just why is that? Well, not only is it a veritable banger, but despite claiming they hail from Lodi, Florida, sources indicate that Limp Mizfit might actually be closer to us than first indicated.

Whatever the case, it seems that folks are already hanging out to hear more from Limp Mizfit, raising the question of just what’s next? Will their debut album take a full 18 years to finally arrive à la Static Age, or will Glenn Durstzig eschew music altogether to embark on a divisive directorial career like both of his namesakes?
