MYANMAR – As per the negotiations between Thailand and the junta council, MNA will be flying emergency flights between Yangon and Mae Sot for three days, roughly determined to be from April 8 to 10.
“MNA flights are planned to land at Mae Sot International Airport starting tomorrow (April 8). For now, Yangon-Mae Sot trips have been planned for three days, as arranged between the countries,” said a top officer from Myanmar National Airline (MNA) but he refused to disclose the reason for the flights.
He said that MNA will be flying passenger planes with a capacity for hundreds of passengers to Mae Sot International Airport for three days from April 8 to 10 and that there were emergency negotiations between Thailand and the junta council for those emergency flights, adding that MNA has finished selecting the planes and staff for the trips.
A Nay Pyi Taw military source said that he only has knowledge that the flights are to bring back the trapped junta council staff and added that there could be changes to the arrangements depending on the negotiations and that an emergency communication channel has been established between the Thai government and the junta council.
