World Cosplay Summit Malaysia, A Cosplay Festival

The Malaysian preliminary rounds for the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) will take place from 14th – 15th July 2018 at The Rift @ Mid Valley Megamall with the contenders vying for an opportunity to represent the country at Nagoya, Japan on 28th July 2018.

WCS started in 2003 with only 4 participating countries. Now entering its 15th edition of the competition, the summit will see competitors from 36 countries around the world competing against one another to be crowned as the best cosplayers in the world.

In addition to the cosplay competition happening at The Rift, participants of the summit can also look forward to other activities during the 2-day event! Including a Japanese Karaoke Singing Competition opened to all attendees of the event and a 28-hour hackathon running in-conjunction with the World Cosplay Summit Malaysia Festival.

However, if your primary interest is cosplay, there will be other related activities for you aside from the competition as well! WCS will be inviting numerous international guest cosplayers to perform during the 2-day summit. In addition to that, each of the featured guests will be given allocated time slot to share their tips and tricks with fans, in relation to costumes and props making and their professional cosplay journey as well.

RM 35 per day with tons of goodies!

Dexter Foong from The Rift was excited to host WCS Malaysia as he believes the space is a good fit for the cosplay community. “We are interested to build a home for the fans,” exclaimed Dexter.

Founder of WCS Malaysia, Mr. Kazuki told us that he expects around 500 participants to join the 2-day summit with 6-7 teams competing in the main cosplay competition.

GSC Cinemas will also be screening an new anime, Servamp: Alice in the Garden at Mid Valley GSC exclusive to WCS participants over the two days of the event.
