Helene Martin was the sweetest of 16 year olds when she joined 12,000 other screaming fans to see American heart-throb Ricky Nelson perform in one of the biggest tin sheds ever built. Martin documented her teen years with a Box Brownie camera. In one, she poses with a rag doll (the only toy brought by her mother when she arrived as a refugee after the Russian Revolution), clutching a Nelson album and swooning over his picture in Photoplay magazine.
