Roxette was a Swedish pop rock duo formed in 1986 by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. They quickly became an international act with the release of their breakthrough album "Look Sharp!" in 1988. The duo went on to achieve nineteen UK Top 40 hits and several US Hot 100 hits, including four number-ones with "The Look", "Listen to Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride". Their other popular songs include "Dressed for Success" and "Fading Like a Flower". Fredriksson and Gessle were already established artists in Sweden before coming together to form the duo. They released several more albums and continued to chart in other territories, earning various Gold and Platinum awards until the early 2000s. In 2002, Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and the duo took a break from recording and touring. However, they reunited in 2009 and released two more studio albums before Fredriksson's death in 2019. Their songs "It Must Have Been Love" and "Listen to Your Heart" continue to receive wide radio airplay. They have sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide and are Sweden's second-best-selling music act after ABBA.
