Kelly Clarkson seemingly shades ‘weak’ ex Brandon Blackstock in new song ‘Me’

Kelly Clarkson seemingly shades her “weak” ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, in her new single “Me.”

The 40-year-old pop star took to Instagram on Thursday to share pointed lyrics from the track.

“Cause I don’t need somebody to scold me/ Don’t need somebody that hurts me,” she sings. “Don’t need somebody who feels weak standing next to me.”

“Me” will be released on Friday along with “Mine,” songs that will likely be included in Clarkson’s forthcoming divorce album, “Chemistry.”

The “American Idol” Season 1 champ explained in an Instagram video last month that she came up with the title after her tumultuous split from Blackstock, 46.

“I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing ’cause I didn’t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some just like, ‘I’m angry, I’m sad’ — like just one or two emotions, you know?” she said.

“This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship … and a whole relationship shouldn’t be just brought down to one thing. So there’s, you know, the good, the bad and the ugly kind of thing going on in it.”

Prior to releasing the lyrics for “Me,” the Grammy winner took a jab at Blackstock by adding her own twist to a March 30 performance of Gayle’s hit “Abcdefu” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“Forget you and your dad/ And the fact that you got half,” Clarkson sang. “And my broken heart/ Turned that s—t into art.”

Gayle, 18, originally sings, “F—k you and your mom/ And your sister and you job / And your broke-ass car/ And that s—t you call art.”

Clarkson filed for divorce from the music manager in June 2020 after seven years of marriage. Following an acrimonious two-year battle over their assets, the pair settled their divorce in March 2022.

The former couple shares daughter River, 8, and son Remington, 6. Blackstock also has two kids from a previous marriage: daughter Savannah, 21, and son Seth, 16.
