This is Mike y Miguel's 8th GarageBand track! And — we're going to release our "Christmas Pastiche" in a couple of days!
This tune combines "Are You Lonesome Tonight," "Arirong," "The Tennessee Waltz," "Vaya con Dios My Darling," "Charade," and "Que Sera, Sera." Please see composer/previous performer info, below.
lyrics
"...Lonesome...," performed by Elvis in 1960, was composed in 1926 by Roy Turk and Lou Handman!) — first recorded (1927) by Ms. Vaughn DeLeath.
"Arirong" is a Korean national song (both North and South).
"Tennessee Waltz" was written by Pee Wee King in 1946 and first recorded by Patti Page in 1953.
"Vaya con Dios" ("Go with God") was written by the team of Russell/James/Pepper in 1953. Les Paul (yes, THAT Les Paul) and Mary Ford made the most popular recording the same year.
"Charade," by Henry Mancini, was written for the movie of the same name, starring Cary Grant and Audry Hepburn. This song made the pop charts in 1963 and Billboard's "Hot 100" list THREE TIMES in 2 years, performed by three different artists — including Mancini's version.
"Que Sera, Sera" ("What will be, will be") was written for the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, 1956). The movie starred James Stewart and Doris Day, who performed the song. This tune is a TRIPLE threat: 1. Alfred Hitchcock movie, 2. 1956 Best Song in a Movie (Academy Award), and 3. Billboard "Hot 100" tune, also in 1956. Keep Listenin' to Mike y Miguel!
As always, we play only our own acoustic instruments. No electronics or "sampling" — ever!
