Abstract

Pholidota is a genus of 29 epiphytic or occasionally saxicolous, species distributed from Indian Himalaya to southern China and Southeast Asia to Queensland. Rhizomes are creeping or pendulous, with prominent pseudobulbs at wide intervals. Leaves are terminal, one to two per pseudobulb, lanceolate, flat and coriaceous. Inflorescence is terminal, racemose, many flowered, the flowers arranged in two rows. Lip is three-lobed and basally saccate (Fig. Pho 86.1).
