Inflorescence terminal, racemose, often many flowered; floral bracts foliaceous, often as long as or exceeding flowers. Flowers resupinate; Sepals free; dorsal sepal erect, ± concave, 12-13 mm, 5-veined; lateral sepals often larger than dorsal sepal. Petals usually adnate at their base to side of column, ascending or erect; lip protruding, 2-partite, lateral margins reflexed, often longer than sepals and petals; hypochile concave with basal sac or spur, spur 10-12 mm, curved, shallowly 2-lobed at apex; epichile 2- or 3-lobed. Column erect, short, with 2 prominent auricles (on either side of anther base); anther ovoid, usually obtuse at base, with 2 parallel locules; pollinia 2, oblong, granular-farinaceous, sectile, attached via short caudicles to a large, naked viscidium; rostellum 3-lobed; stigma lobes confluent.
The following characteristics distinguish Brachycorythis helferi from the other known species within the genus Brachycorythis: The labellum epichile is orbicular-ovate or broad, mostly emarginate at the apex and 12–33mm in length and not very broad. The width of the petals if three times the length of the petals. Leaves are narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate, upto 14cm in length and 3–5mm in width. Plants are 15–60 cm in height. The spur has a narrow apex and is 6–5–10–5mm in length.
