HitPredictor Chart Results

Standard

Just like last week, I told y’all that I would be reporting the results of all the songs rated here at HitPredictor. Y’all are a big portion of the what makes up these scores so I felt like y’all would want to see the results of them! So if you ever want to know how your favorite song did in the jukebox, just ask!

Anyway, let’s get to this week’s “HitPredictors.”

In the Mainstream Top 40 format, we have Rihanna’s “S&M.” This is the third single off her album Loud. RiRi is filming a very risque video for the song now, which includes bondage and hostages with Rihanna modeling a pink latex suit. That should be very interesting!

Speaking of Rihanna, her song “Raining Men” featuring Nicki Minaj is a HitPredictor on Urban this week. Also, Bow Wow, assisted by Chris Brown, is a HitPredictor with their new single “Ain’t Talking Bout You.”

Sara Bareilles third studio album Kaleidoscope Heart was released in September, and her 2nd single “Uncharted”, is a Hot AC HitPredictor this week.

Ten years ago Alecia Beth Moore aka Pink, started her career with the hit “There You Go”, and 11 years later is more popular than ever as her latest hit “F**kin’ Perfect” is a Mainstream AC HitPredictor.

In the Country format, Josh Turner has released 4 albums for MCA Nashville, and his latest, Haywire, has produced its 3rd single “I Wouldn’t Be A Man”. Reba has done a country cover of the amazing Beyonce song “If I Were A Boy” and put it on her album, All the Women I Am.

Rise Against The Machine is quickly becoming one of the most popular groups because they are HitPredictor’s at Alternative and Active Rock. Their single “Help Is On The Way” is topping both charts this week. Blues Rockers’ The Black Keys are also hot this week on the Alternative charts with their 2nd big hit “Howlin’ For You” off their album Brothers.

Also in Active Rock, 3 Doors Down. They are back after a 3 year absence with their first single, a ballad titled “When You’re Young”, from their 6th album Time Of My Life. Rock’s Prince Of Darkness, Ozzy Osborne is back with “Let It Die” from his latest album Scream.

There are your updates on this week’s HitPredictor’s. What do y’all think?

New Music From 3 Doors Down, Jay-Z & Kanye, Sara Bareilles, and Britney

Standard

There is so much new music in the jukebox, I just had to let y’all know!

First, 3 Doors Down released a new single yesterday called “When You’re Young.” Y’all should start hearing this one on the radio and here is a sneak peak of the single cover artwork!

Yesterday right after the clock struck midnight, Kanye West and Jay-Z dropped “H.A.M.” on facebook. This is their first single off their collab album Watch The Throne.

Sara Bareilles’ new album, Kaleidoscope Heart is out now and “Uncharted” is the first single off this album. She came up with the name of the album through the lyrics in “Uncharted” so Sara says this had to be her first single to pay thanks for giving her that much inspiration.

And last but not least, I’m sure you all know that Britney Spears’ new single “Hold It Against Me” hit blogs and radio airwaves everywhere on Monday. Whether you wanted to listen or not, you’ve probably heard it. Will this hit be as big as all of her other singles?

All of these are in the jukebox for y’all right now! Go listen to those and tell us if you hear any hit potential!

Sara Bareilles’ “Uncharted” in the Jukebox Now

Standard

Hey HP! We have the new single, “Uncharted” by Sara Bareilles in the jukebox right now for you to get the first listen. “Uncharted” is off her latest album, “Kaleidoscope Heart” that is out now.

Here’s what Sara has to say about the album and the single. “Kaleidoscope Heart is my new album, and I’m beyond proud of this collection of songs, in no small part due to the fact it was like pulling teeth to write them. We spent the better part of three years touring and supporting my first record, Little Voice, and by the end of that process I was completely burnt out. I thought that I would use our much-needed time off to just pour myself into writing, but I actually found that I wanted nothing to do with music for a little while. I preferred drinking copious amounts of coffee, going to yoga, and looking for cute throw pillows at Target. I love throw pillows. Weeks before I was supposed to start recording, I was in full-scale panic-attack mode, feeling pressure to start the ball rolling again, but not having material I cared about. I only had about 4 new songs that I really loved, and the rest were truly embarrassing.”

“My manager suggested only recording the 4 songs I loved and I agreed. Thank God he did, because the floodgates opened after a taste of what being in the studio would look and feel like. It was easy, and exciting, and infinitely inspiring. I wrote the rest of the record in about a month, largely based around the song “Uncharted” that still feels like the centerpiece to me. My fear of what was to come was keeping me from doing anything. And finally, I cared about what I was saying.
As homage to the song that freed me, I took the title of the record from its lyrics.”

Are you excited to hear music from Sara Bareilles again?

Unsigned and unknown catch Nina’s attention this week!

Guest blogger and HitPredictor member Nina C. reports on the new music finds and what she liked and didn’t like in the jukebox each week atHitPredictor. Many of these songs are still available so make check them out and let us know whether you agree or disagree! This was pretty solid week here at HitPredictor. I certainly liked more music this week than I did last week.  My favorite artist this week was an unsigned artist that needs to be signed immediately: Adam Watts.  His voice is strong, genuine and clear.  In his song “When Everything Else is Gone” the lyrics are catchy and well written. His voice reminds me of what singing really sounds like without synthesizers and over-done drum beats. I haven’t heard many songs by Jason Castro that I liked.  His music is usually to poppy sweet for me but I thought “You Are” was a strong and sweet love song. I was disappointed by Pink’s new single “Raise your Glass.” There is just nothing about this song that makes me want to listen to the rest of the album and that is what a first single should do.  I’ve been a fan of Pink for many years now so I really do hope her other songs are more engaging.

I really enjoyed “The First Time” by Script. It felt like a good solid rock song. I’m not a steady fan of all their music but they definitely turn in some great rock music. “One by One” by Tiffany Dunn was really catchy and had a great dance beat. There was another mysterious artist this week in the jukebox. I really enjoyed the songs “Like a Wave,” “Unfinished” and “One More Night”; the person singing really has a good voice. The music is great pop – it’s strong pop without being too sappy. I’d like to fit a name with these songs and I hope to hear more from him. Nicki Minaj’s “Right Thru Me” was a fun and memorable song. I know her voice can be annoying sometimes but she’s my guilty pleasure in music. “Your Beating Heart” by Brendan James was a haunting and beautiful love song. Sara Bareilles has some of the most natural music around right now. Her lyrics are always well written and the music is always good. “Not Alone” is a great follow up to “King of Everything.” My only really negative review for the week was “Speak Now” by Taylor Swift her music really does not impress me because it all sounds the same.

So what were your favorite songs this week and what did you think were the worst songs this week? Let me know and have a great week :)

DJ Lilly gives us her picks!

Standard

I realized the other day that I never really tell you anything about myself. All you really need to know is that I am old enough to have grown up with boy bands blasting out of my stereo and young enough not to be blasting Neil Diamond or Wham; and that I am a huge fan of Christina Aguilera, Nick Lachey, TLC, Lacuna Coil, and Kelly Clarkson. My fave singer, since I was a kid, has been Shanice and I even got to meet her when I was 15 (along with Martina McBride and Olivia Newton-John). I also have mentioned in past blogs that I love Rihanna!

So I noticed that I have been kinda negative in my reviews lately, (mostly because I didn’t like the songs that were in the jukebox) but most of my reviews this week were positive (uh oh). I liked the Kelsey Rey songs that were in the jukebox last week, and I liked the “No Artist” songs that were in the jukebox this week as well. I have no idea who it is; but I am thinking they are boy-band related. I liked the Adam Watts and Yearling songs that were in the jukebox too. I also liked “You Are”, by Jason Castro and “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. I actually saw a tweet, by Ashley Tisdale from earlier today (Monday, Oct. 11), saying that she loves that song. I think Pink has another hit song on her hands.

It was nice to hear Five Finger Death Punch in the jukebox, we need more hard rock in there (except it wasn’t too hard this week). I have never really cared for Cake and their new single, “Sick Of You” still didn’t make me a fan. I really liked Matisse and Akon’s song “Better Than Her” that was in the jukebox last week. I thought “Not Alone” by Sara Bareilles was OK, give it some time to grow on me.

My favorite song of the week goes to “Desperate Boys and Stupid Girls” by Kimberly Caldwell. She did a cover of an Alana Grace (who is a good friend of mine) song earlier this year and I didn’t really like it (great song; but it just didn’t go well with her voice and it was hard for me to like an Alana song, not being sung by Alana-lol). I think this song is really good though (because boys can be desperate and girls can be stupid) and I hope it becomes a radio hit!

What song in the jukebox do you want to become a radio hit? Shoot me an e-mail and let me know! You can also write me with any other song you want my opinion on – I love hearing from you guys! Some members think these tracks have hit potential – do you agree?

Standard

Because of all the excellent nominations this week, we have just loaded five new tracks picked by our members to the jukebox this morning! Among the artists we want your feedback on are Sara Bareilles, Jason Castro, LoCash Cowboys, FFH, and Brendan James. So check these tracks out and let us know whether you think any of these picks from our members have hit potential!

Fresh off her new album Kalediscope Heart is Sara Bareilles’ “Not Alone,” a track nominated by HitPredictor member trevorstrain269. Do you think this bluesy, soulful track has the potential to be a radio hit? Some reviewers have said this track has the best vocals of the entire album, and no doubt demonstrates Bareilles’ true, raw talent. What do you think? Let us know with your vote at HitPredictor!

American Idol alum Jason Castro is coming out with a Christian album called Who I Am on Nov. 9. Who I Am is a new version of Castro’s debut album with four brand new songs which he described as his “love songs to God.” One of the new tracks is the album’s first single “You Are,” which was nominated by HitPredictor members xvintagehearts and Rachel 2. We want to know if you think this track has hit potential!

“Keep In Mind” is the newest single from LoCash Cowboys, which HitPredictor member MARTHAM submitted for consideration. This powerful soul-moving ballad about a parent’s loving and reluctant farewell to children anxious to venture off into the world has a powerful message and wonderful harmony – but do you think it has the potential to be a radio hit? Have a listen and let us know!

The former Four For Harmony has come back from a two-year hiatus as FFH and has just released a new track “Undone,” which HitPredictor member musiclover8603 thinks has hit potential! Earlier this summer “Undone” blasted onto the Billboard Hot Christian songs chart, but still hasn’t registered much airplay. We want know if you think this song about surrender does have the potential for radio airplay?

HitPredictor member sweetness_20011 thinks Brendan James’ “Your Beating Heart” deserves some attention, and what better way to get it some then by putting into the HitPredictor jukebox? This brand new track is from James’ self-titled sophomore album that debuted last month. This track was also featured on One Tree Hill a couple of weeks ago. But do you think it has the potential to be a radio hit? Have a listen and let us know!

Katy Perry continues her reign on top of Hot 100

Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg has held on to the throne at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth straight week. Billboard reports the summer anthem has also earned the Airplay Gainer award for the third straight week.

It will be fun to see if she can pull of another week as Eminem’s collaboration with Rihanna “Love the Way You Lie” from his new album Recovery stormed the chart coming in at No. 2 on the Hot 100. Will it continue to gain steam next week to usurp “California Gurls”?

The rest of the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 includes:

  • At No. 4, “Airplanes,” B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams
  • At No. 5, “Billionaire,” Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars
  • At No. 6, “Find Your Love,” Drake
  • At No. 7, “Cooler Than Me,” Mike Posner
  • At No. 8, “Your Love Is My Drug,” Ke$ha
  • At No. 9, “Alejandro,” Lady Gaga
  • At No. 10, “Whatcha Say,” Jason Derulo

Other notable debuts in the Hot 100 this week are songs that many of our HitPredictor members have recently voted on including Selena Gomez & The Scene’s “Round & Round,” which debuted at No. 24, Maroon 5’s “Misery” which came in at No. 44, and Sara Bareilles’ “King of Anything” which came in at No. 59.

Do you have any of these songs in a current playlist? If so, which ones?
