Ice Spice’s brother, Joey Gaston, is one of the premier high school quarterbacks in New York and as his rap star sister continues her meteoric rise, opponents have started to take note.

A student at the esteemed Iona Preparatory Upper School (or simply Iona Prep) in New Rochelle, Gaston paid Complexa visit earlier this week where he revealed that some of his school’s opponents have tried to troll him on the football field using various Ice Spice lyrics.

“I’m out there on the field, defensive ends, tackles or whatever, they sack me and they like ‘You thought I was feeling you?’ They get up and give me a little line or whatever,” he explained. “It’s competitive cuz I go out there like, ‘Iight bet, watch what’s gonna happen this next play.’ I get a first down. It’s all love.”

The star QB also recalled a time during a semi-final game when the opposing school section used his sister’s popularity with her fans against him.

“I was playing semi-finals and I just hear the student section, they like, ‘He’s coming, he’s coming; let me get two claps. We love Ice Spice.’ Clap, clap. ‘We love Ice Spice.’ It was a cool feeling. Next drive I go out there, I threw a touchdown,” Gaston said.

“I went to the sidelines and I started clapping. I was like, ‘Y’all like that?’ One of the student section guys gave my teammate an orange wig.”

Gaston is heading into his senior year at Iona Prep so the quarterback has one more year of high school football left.

With plenty of colleges keeping their eye on Ice Spice’s brother, Gaston is expected to land the opportunity to continue his athletic career at the NCAA level if he pleases.

In his junior season in 2023, Gaston threw for 2,186 yards and 15 passing touchdowns while rushing for 739 yards and another nine TDs.

It’s no surprise Gaston’s opponents and members of opposing student sections were able to use so many different things about Spice against her baby brother.
