Oreocereus trollii (Old Man of the Andes)

Oreocereus trollii
Old Man of the Andes

They are native to the arid, mountainous regions of South Bolivia to North Argentina and grow between 10,000-15,000ft above sea level. The long, white hairs protect them from both light frost and intense UV rays. As they mature plants will assume a clumping habit and produce new stems that will emerge from the soil. A versatile cactus, they can be grown as a houseplant, on the patio, in containers or in the ground. Just make sure to provide sufficient light to indoor plants.
