Vive la Fête

About Vive la Fête

Vive la Fête translates to English as “Long live the party”.
Vive la Fête is a Belgian music duo formed in 1997 by Danny Mommens (guitar, vocals) and Els Pynoo (vocals), a couple in real life. They describe their music as “ danceable electro-rock, with a touch of kitsch and some new wave and French chanson lurking in the background.” (http://vivelafete.be/about/).

They have a good live reputation. They toured a lot of festivals with three other musicians. Every concert has a long version of the song Noir Desir. Els mostly comes with daring outfits and the rest of the band often has distinctive clothing or make-up. The concerts are always about fun and party.

Their first success came with their debut Attaque Surprise. Later records such as République Populaire and Nuit Blanche made them popular,
They were especially popular in the fashion world. Karl Lagerfeld is one of their fans, and has enlisted them to perform at a number of his big shows in New York City and Paris.
