“Cum On Feel the Noize” is the lead single from Quiet Riot’s album, Metal Health. It became their most popular song and biggest hit, reaching the top 5 in the US and top ten in Canada in late 1983.

It is a cover of a 1973 Slade song of the same name. The band’s producer suggested covering the song, but frontman Kevin DuBrow wanted all of the album’s songs to be originals, so the band intentionally did not practice playing it before the recording, hoping to sabotage the idea:

We were supposed to rehearse the song and go in and record it. The producer kept calling the rehearsal studio, ‘Are you working on “Cum On Feel the Noize”?’ And we’d say, ‘Yeah. It sounds great.’ But we never played it.

Later, once drummer Frankie Banali knew the engineer was recording, he began playing the song and the other musicians joined in. DuBrow was upset, as he wanted the idea to fail, but nonetheless recorded his parts and the song went on to be their biggest hit.
